SPYCRAFT: Blood Money (The African Dream)

Kim nonchalantly kneels down to help him, first he grabs the cell phone... and slides his silenced pistol out and discretely places it against his ribs...

He whispers, "That is enough of that, keep the hand away from your weapon..." his voice soft but menacing...

OOC: One again trying to Intimidate +9, and keep my gun against his ribs... make him stand and most likley try to discretly disarm him... but definitely getting that cell-phone

<<Steel Ronin sees 4 soldiers in uniform suddenly exiting from the black sedan that had double parked in front of the African Dream club barely 30 seconds ago. They are totting Shiny new AK-74s and start moving toward the entrance.>>

(Ken hesitates to call the others, thinking the ringing of their phone will only single out their presence to the entering soldiers.) Ken hustles by the sedan, checking the make and number of the car (SPOT +6) and then attempting to see through the front windshield if anyone is inside. As he passes the car, Ken will also check the crowd to see if the soldiers with guns have caused a panic.

[OOC: I will base my next move on what I see. A huge disturbance may cause us to loose our cover completely or even worse. . . I plan to enter a gunfight as a last resort in this situation.]

Ro. 20, auto success (can you believe the luck of this guy!). I spend an action dice (Now have 8) and he spots everyone, including Ghostfox who didn't even move.

Roman sees the CIA guy look his direction. The look in the man's eyes is unmistakable. Roman's been made. Cursing softly under his breath, Roman still moves after Neilan, glancing at his watch and trying to pretend like he's leaving just because he has an appointment (Bluff 2).

Out of the corner of his eye, Roman catches Ghostfox on the cell phone. He prays she's talking to someone outside so that if he loses Neilan in the crowd, the other operative can latch on to him.

The commotion of CPG falling on the floor catches Roman's attention for a moment. Just long enough to see Tokiwong handling the situation. He grins.

-Hopefully, that's one wolf that's getting its teeth pulled. - thinks Roman. - Now to corner the sheep. -

A few general notice

Roman: I forgot to resolve this earlier, but given the CPG's ghastly spot check it is obvious you managed to take his picture with the digital camera.

BTW, Since it's a digital camera, Roman can quickly send back any picture he takes with his camera into Luddite's computer by using his cell phone's internet connection. Yeah, it's one of those cell phone. You're a spy, so you always get the latest model!

First download the pictures through the cell phone and into an e-mail account (preferably Hotmail type). Typically this takes 2 full action.

If one assumes that you and Luddite exchanged E-mail info - and I'm willing to assume agents always think about such things - he'll probably be warned that he got mail if he's online.

Steel Ronin: I assume that all the agents including you have turned their cell phone to vibration for just this reason. You'll not give away anyone's position if you call. Of course if the person you called pick up, he or she will stand out a little but unless that person starts acting all unnatural, like a CPG guy, it should be fine.

Given this information, you can edit your post and call one PC if you wish.]

OOC That is one way. Or a better way would be a connection to a Celluar Modem directly on my laptop, or "home" Computer. Don't want to send sensitive information around the internet  But yes there would be some type of "dropbox" that would alert me when something new was there.

The only issue is that by using a Standard Issue Cellphone, someone could still montior the airwaves and see the data being transfered. However, unless the person knows about one end of the wireless connection, then the chances are highly unlikely.

Aside from Vibrate, you can get "subtle" ear pieces and microphones so you don't have to hold/get the cellphone. Infact, it could be possilbe for the phone to "Auto-Answer" from a specified number. The only trick is you need to pull the cell phone out to make a call, or do some voice activated speed dial.

Now it is not in the rules, but I would guess that Encryption modules for cell phones would also be 3 BP each. That would limit some one just picking up the data. But remember using a cell phone can be traced and tracked. Which one reason why luddite does not have a Personal Cell Phone. Always gets a new one for each mission and cover.

END OOC

Now Kim can observe the man who formerly had a cell phone up close and personal. He seems awkward in these trendy clothes and the look in his eyes tells Kim he usually is on the other side of a threat. He might be a soldier. His hand starts moving toward his gun but he stops himself as Kim push his gun a little more firmly against his ribs. To the satisfaction of Kim, no one seem to have noticed what he's doing except his target.

- Who the hell are you? You don't know who you're messing with. I got friends outside. Give me the gun before somebody get hurts (menacingly)

The man speaks in the thick accent of a native of Zimbabwe.

[OOC:

Kim rolls:

Bluff
Ro. 15 + 10 = 25
No one notices the maneuver

Intimidate
Ro. 5 + 9 = 14 DC 13 (10 + level + 2 because of back up)
The target is intimidated (despite his bluster). He will not go for his weapon for the moment.

Sense Motive:
Ro 19 + 7 = 26
Hunch, guess that he's probably a soldier.

Presumably the Soldier is trying to intimidate Kim back, but PCs are always free of their action (as far as I'm concerned)]

And now we see why Luddite is the Snoop! :D

Yes, you could download the info directly into your computer. It's just that if Roman's cell phone fall into the hands of the opposition, they could easily obtain your modem number - along with all the other calls he made. It could be annoying. That's why I assumed an indirect means of communication.

Of course, it's safer for the data itself to be transferred directly into the computer instead of languishing for a short while in an Hotmail account. And nobody is going to get Roman's cell phone away from him, right?

Your call, really.

BTW: You read my last post of the gearing up thread, right? Just to be sure.

Ken calls GhostFox as he approaches the sedan, keeping his voice down, yet forceful.
"Heads Up! Four armed soldiers coming in the main entrance! Alert the others and find an alternate exit -- fast!"

[OOC: restating from previous post:]
Ken hustles by the sedan, checking the make and number of the car (SPOT +6) and then attempting to see through the front windshield if anyone is inside. As he passes the car, Ken will also check the crowd to see if the soldiers with guns have caused a panic.

Ken tries to act as he possibly can while moving past the Sedan. He notes the registration and notices that there is still a driver inside the Sedan altough he couldn't see his face because of the tint in the windows.

OOC:

Ken

Spot
Ro.15 + 6 = 21
Ken note the registration plate as he walks by the car without having to get all bent out of shape to get a clear view. He also notice a silhouette inside the car. A driver + 4 goons. Unless there is aslo a dwarf in the glove compartment it should be all for this car.

Ken's Bluff VS driver's spot
Ro. 8 + 1 = 9
Ro. 5 + 3 = 8
Ken still hasn't been spotted. He looks like just another bystander as he moves hustle by.

The situation is about to come to an head, but I'd like to see Ghostfox and Kareem's reactions before describing Jeff Neilan's and the soldier's reaction.

I am not overly worried about my cell phone being linked. We won't be in Harare and Binga for long then it will be destoryed and I will get another one. It just might be easier to state that for standard opperations, I always have something simple set up. And then make a Computers (+12) Check to see how hard it would be to trace. Though Data is still sent in the clear unless we set up some sort of encryption with a cryptography check.

END OCC

Luddite gets a signal that one of the team is sending data. He puts down his book and goes over to his laptop and takes alook.

OOC: Once I will get the image I will clean it up a bit and then compare it to people in the other photos. Also I will start some type of Identity Match as well. Surveillance +6 (+7 with computer), Spot +6, Search +4, Computers +12. I will spend and action die to activate any critical.
