SS Fortuna Campaign: OOC Talk

Server open for Tuesday Oct 14th.

EDIT: Session finished. The party fought off a few more fire beetles with ease, though Fleown, Alaron, and Armon were somewhat wounded. The group also fought a large monitor lizard that Armon accidentally caught the attention of, and the critter nearly killed the ranger before Armon, Fleown, and Torgar dispatched the pesky reptile. Fleown applied some healing to Armon and Torgar, while Armon's healing potion was used to revive him after the reptile's last attack. Everyone returned to camp and decided to rest for the day, even though it was only midday, to allow Fleown to regain some healing spells. In the morning, Fleown restored Armon to fighting form, and the party began to explore other parts of the island. They searched the entirety of the southern half and most of the northern half, though the eastern edges remain unexplored. Nonetheless, in the northeast was found a large stone building, covered in dense vegetation, but otherwise much like the building found on the other island. The party opened the large door and prepared to enter.....

Retirement

I'm sorry for the manner of my exit earlier this evening. I offer a complete and utter apology to Fleown for my allusion to meta gaming and I must say it has been a pleasure to be part of this campaign.

However I am finding the timing difficult especially when we only really get going an hour after our scheduled start and with an early start to my working day continuing past 3 hours after the scheduled start time is not really an option for me. Even on consecutive nights I'm finding this too bitty to be really worth the effort

Sorry guys but Goir is going to stick to sailing the ship.

GOIR:
Sorry to hear that..... I've only been running the campaign an hour longer because no one mentions that they have to go before that, and when I'm busy I often lose track of time myself. I apologize for often opening the server late, too. If you still want to play, I can always set a timer and force the game to end by 5 or 6 pm EST... Otherwise, I'll e-mail you Goir's T13K Character Sheet with total EXP and gear from after he leaves the Fortuna, in case you want to join any other T13K games with that PC.

NOTES TO ALL:
Well gang, I can't seem to connect with OpenRPG today, and after half an hour and several resets, it still ain't happening. So I'll have to cancel the Wednesday October 15th session.... Unless I note otherwise, I still expect to run the game next week. Apologies.

Due to the schedule for my next semester of college, I won't be able to run the game on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the same time, come November. Knowing that for Alaron and probably others, the game already starts rather late, the only alternative I can guess at is to play for 3 hours each Monday instead of 2-3 hours Tues/Wed, or playing on weekends, either Saturdays, Sundays, or both. Please post your opinions on this, over the course of the next 2 weeks, before the change occurs.

EDIT: Not enough folks showed up this week for the October 21st/22nd sessions, so they were cancelled. Next week I'll hopefully see enough players show up in order to play.....?

Well, despite having sent out an e-mail previously to remind everyone of the games this week, only half the group showed up on Tuesday and only Fleown showed up on Wednesday. No one gave me any notices that they would be late or no-show. So, anyone who does not show up for the game on Monday November 3rd, at 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, will be removed from the group unless you have a very good reason sent to me in advance. If you're going to be half an hour late or more, don't even bother to waste my time.

This will be the new start time for our games, due to my college class schedule change. We'll play on Mondays at 5 pm EST, and starting on November 9th, we'll try playing Sundays at 2 pm EST as well.

Finished the Monday, November 10th session. The party entered the large stone building, exploring three rooms inside, and peering into another two rooms. The entry room contained a large, articulated, sandstone statue, roughly humanoid in form, but apparently nothing more than junk or decoration. From that room, the party entered a cozy, fair-sized den that was brightly lit by a still-active fireplace........strange since the pirate-wizard supposedly died off a few centuries ago.

Nonetheless, the white-veined, black marble fireplace contained a powerful fire, which crackled and swayed strangely, yet it lacked any noticeable sort of fuel. Delwin poked at it with his longsword a few times to no effect, but splashing a little water on the flames caused them to writhe, hiss, and crackle loudly, sputtering and producing a little steam, though the flames continued to burn.

The den contained an armoire filled with personal effects, as well as a bookshelf stuffed with old books in many different languages and subjects. Torgar opened a door into another room, entering only to be attacked by three skeletons! Luckily, after Torgar suffered some a mediocre scratch from one bony claw, Fleown destroyed the undead with the power of Eraekoth, ending the nuisance. Torgar continued to check the small room, finding two doors along the north wall. One door led down some stairs at least a hundred feet or more, into darkness, and the party decided to leave that corridor alone for now.

Torgar opened the other door, and saw a well-lit, luxurious bedroom, with a large canopy-covered bed, high-quality desks and armoires, bookshelves, some plush rugs, and more. The room was lit by some sort of magical torches, but it was not entirely uninhabited.... A stone statue, about 10 or 12 feet tall, walked up to the doorway and addressed the group, stopping a few feet away. The statue, a finely-chiseled piece in the form of a female human in noble finery, warned the group not to enter the chamber, or else face the wrath of the pirate-wizard.......

Torgar threw an axe at it.

Fleown suggested chucking stones or clubs at it to see if it was dangerous or anything, but Torgar just chucked an axe at the statue. The axe bounced off harmlessly, as did the next few weapons hurled at it while the statue suddenly began to stride towards Torgar. The dwarf was instantly smashed into a bloody, ugly mess with one crushing slam of the statue's elegantly-chiseled, magically-animated arm. The party immediately fled the building when Torgar was slain, and the statue did not follow them outside, instead halting at the entry door and staying inside.

The party talked, then tried going back into the building. The statue had left the entry room, though no one knew where it had yet gone off to. The party closed both doors of the entry room, deciding to stay inside and avoid the nasty storm brewing outside. While they warily rested within, a search group from the S.S. Fortuna entered, though the party was suspicious at first. The storm was growing worse, and a nasty tidal wave was on the way, about to destroy anything on the island and those nearby, so a group was sent out to find the party, while other groups sought out the marines treasure-hunting on other islands in the area.

The marines, accompanied by one of the Fortuna's other sailors, a gnomish cook named Griddle Macintosh, informed the party of the current situation, and it was decided that the stone structure should be sturdy enough to weather the tidal wave. So, everyone huddled down inside the entry room of the pirate-wizard's former abode......

((Note: The party composition has been updated in the original S.S. Fortuna thread under Questing For Adventure))
