So, I'm looking for a quarterstaff that can magically transform into a longbow and longspear, and that's it. No +1 or anything. :) Any ideas on what the price should be? I'm thinking no more than a couple hundred gold.

As a side thought, what do you think would be the price of an item that can turn into any simple melee weapon? Again, no enhancement bonuses of any kind.

Anything magical is going to be at least +1 according to the RAW before it does anything else.

And isn't this the house rules forum? :D

Seriously, I had considered this fact, but would rather it just be "regular," other than the shapechange.

Races of the Wild has rules for this, check it out.

Really? What are the basics of how it works? Unfortunately I don't have that book, though it looks like maybe I should pick it up.

It costs more than a masterwork weapon, and depending on the size, the bow can be used as a weapon. They also have a magical version as well. I really don't feel comfortable posting details, but I imagine that a quick look at your bookstore will give you what you need.

Well i guess you could have a lognspear, with a bowstring hidden *within* it...
Using a Full action tranforming it to a bow.. (this is not magical in any way)

Or you could jsut make a rod, would make things so much easier .. and no weapon bonus have to apply

500 - 700 gp sounds about right to me. It should be more than the cost of the most expensive masterworked version of any of those three, but not as much as all three together. Its' weakness is the "all your eggs in one basket" thing -- you lose one weapon, you lose all of them.

Cheers
Nell.

There's actually a +2 quarterstaff/+2 longbow in Complete Adventurer for about 11,000gp. Not sure how much they make the "base" weapon. If they compute it as a double weapon, it's actually -5,000gp for this feature :D If as a single +2 weapon, then the bowstaff itself is almost 3,000gp. :\ Looks like WotC disagrees with the pricing on this thing.
