Stand and Charge

Readied actions are further detailed on p.64 of the DMG. It does not list any reasonable conditions, however it does list wisdom DCs for aborting readied actions and also states that the DM shouldn't let a player be to specific about triggering conditions. I flipped through a couple pages and double-checked the index to see if maybe I missed something but I'm not seeing any regards to reasonable conditions. Maybe you saw this list on a quick reference sheet/screen?

I'm sure I have seen such a list before. I think it may have been on one of the 3rd Ed. DM screens (Core Rules, FRCS, or both). Letting a friend borrow them for one of his games atm unfortunately so now it's gonna' bug me till I can check.

I think I know why the sage mentioned tumble in his ruling. My reverse engineering of his decision goes as follows.

You can tumble while charging.
You can stand up as a free action with Tumble DC35 (ELH).
Thus, you can stand up with tumble (dc35) and do a full charge.
From this I think he extrapolated you can stand up as move-equivalent and partial charge.

My opinion is he has ELH in the brain.

I could argue the same thing about some people on this board in regards to the Invisibility spell and sneak attacks, so I guess what you smoke is all a matter of perspective, isn't it?

He probably rarely looks things up for himself anymore and probably does it from memory, possibly due to him still constantly getting a lot of Emails. He might not have time to look things up every time, especially in multiple areas of the books. Remember, a lot of the questions Emailed to him are more technical and not simple.

A lot of DMs do this in the game while playing. We make a ruling based on experience and knowledge. Being human and not having the books totally memorized, every once in a while we make a mistake.

Asking a question of him appears to be like asking one of a rules competent DM rather than a rules scholar doing research.

I came to this conclusion on the Sage quite some time back. However, this is his most blatantly incorrect ruling is quite some time.

Oh .. I have always taken his e-mail responses with the entire White Sands Plains in mind, but this is just rediculous.
