Standing up...from a chair? Does this provoke an AoO?

Or just eat enough of the beans beforehand. You won't need a fireball.
But it's soooo much more fun with FIRE.... Watch those cute little flames... grow higher ... and higher...

In D&D, I'd say no. In D20 Modern it all depends on whether you pass the wealth check to buy the chair.

Thanks,
Rich

I agree with most here, standing from a seated position, as a ME action, would not provoke an AoO.

However...

I would also give the option of standing as a free action, which would provoke an AoO...

Except that goes against the rules posted above by mvincent.

Well, it was only a Rules of the Game article. Psimancer's ruling doesn't contradict anything in the rules, since standing from seated is undocumented in the rules.

Spoilsport. What ever happened to sedition? False innuendo? I dunno, things just are too quiet around here these days.

How's life in Kiwiland these days?

However, if someone is seated at a table (especially if it's a medium or large table), then I'd say it requires that person a move action to push away from the table and to stand up from his or her chair, and doing so provokes an AoO. (But, then, wouldn't that table provide partial cover to the person standing up from it? )

Last I heard, you get jailed for sedition if you happen to disagree with the ruling Labour regime...
