Star Trek - Who is the greatest villian?

Airwolf

First Post
For Star Trek fans, CNN has a good article about the ST movie villians. It includes a poll as to who is the best ST villian of all times, like there is any question.

Anyway just thought some of you might enjoy the story and the discussion as to who is the best TV or movie villian.

Star Trek Movie Villians

Wanted to make the post more clear.

Given the choices that CNN offered, Khan is certainly the runaway favorite and most obvious choice. I would also offer up Mark Lenard in his role as the Romulan commander in the original series episode of 'Balance of Terror' as a good candidate. He was probably as close to an actual mirror to Kirk as far as villains go. There was honor and integrity present in that villain.

Other memorable favorites from the original series are the Klingon commanders, Kor and Kang, both of whom made impacts with their limited roles.

But the most original "villain" of all had to be ..... Tribbles!!! :D

Khan. I can't believe the Borg Queen is getting any votes at all...

And I'll agree that the romulan commander was a great villan. Heck, that episode is one of my all-time favorites from TOS...

Sure, Khan is great, but...

... far and away the most complex, best acted, best realized villian in the Star Trek cosmos is Dukat. Having a nemisis character who was so obviously needy was a stroke of genius. The fact he needed Sisko's respect more than he needed to triumph over him....

Maybe this is unfair. Dukat is delevoped over several seasons, whereas Khan has only an episode and a film. Nah. Dukat by a light-year.

[edit] oops. now that I've actually read the CNN article and see its limited to the film villians, I'll heartily agree Khan is King... though I so stand by what I said about Gul Dukat.

I think she's a great villain, but not in the conventional sense. She single-handedly ruined the best bad guys to come out of TNG. Turning the Borg from a faceless them into a slutty her in bondage is just unforgiveable.

Its not your fault. I should have been more clear in my post, I will edit to make the changes.

Yes the CNN story is about the movie villians.
I wanted the discussion to be about the TV and movie villians.

I would agree- He is my favorite Trek villian, but followed closely by Khan.

The only problem with Dukat was the last season or so destroyed him by abandoning his character to make him a steriotypical "destroy the world- hahahaha" kind of villian.

Agreed. I try to overlook the very end of Dukat's storyline w/the evil Kai Wynn and the whole Temple of Doom climax.

The Borg were the "classical" faceless villain - I think that there were very few villains that could compare with their faceless subjugation of a free beings will and sense of self.

Having said that, they boned it. They gave the Borg a face and a personality. Ugggghhhh. Now my perfect villain is either the Empire, Aliens, or the bugs from Independance Day.

Of those available - Khan!!!
