One change that I'd like to see with the upcoming continuation of Star Wars is to add some more depth to them. What do we really know about them? Sure, there's a tid-bit here and a tid-bit there. Jawas are junk scavengers. And, they're short. And, they have a funny language. And, that's about all we know about them.
We don't even know what they really look like--what's under those robes? Are those glowing eyes some sort of device? Or, is that electric shine generated by their organic eyes?
The Tusken Raiders. Yeah, they are tribal. Are they human, wrapped in fearsome clothes? Are they some other race? What do they really look like? What are their customs?
The Mon Calamari. They tend to favor lobsters, and they come from a water planet. We know they make big, bulbous capital starships. But, what else? What about their history? Are they water breathers as well as air breathers? What's their culture like?
Star Wars aliens are, for the most part, nothing more than interesting, and sometimes downright silly, looking creatures. Most often, that's all we know about them. I think the RPGs are probably the best source for more depth on each alien, but the books and comics (and I've read several of each) don't seem to go into much detail.
I'd like to see that change a bit. I doubt it will happen, but I'd like some more depth on the aliens presented in the universe.
Let's see what will happen with the upcoming movies.
