Star Wars d20 is dead

I do not consider the RPGA as OP support in the sense that they do not produce items such as the retailer kits.

I guess I have to disagree with your assessment of the RPGA. RPGA support of the SWRPG, via Living Force, most certainly is OP support. They certainly do produce items...literally dozens of adventure modules, as well as the rules documents and support documents for campaign play. Just because those are all produced as PDFs, and distributed via the RPGA event ordering system, does not make them less valid.

If you don't consider this to be OP support, BelenUmeria, what *would* you consider to be such? (Or, what previous support was there that you say is now gone? If WotC had OP support of SWRPG beyond the RPGA, I wasn't aware of it.)

So, will current players stop playing?

Quasqueton

Why would they?
If they never put out another D20 Modern product, I still have everything I need to game with D20 Modern.

If they never put out another Star Wars D20 book, I still have everything I need to game with Star Wars D20...

Not putting out new material means people have to stop playing?
I would find that pretty laughable.

Unless you wanted the money, I just don't understand that one. People still play Star Wars, even the d6 version has a loyal following even though it's as stone dead and has been OOP for 7+ years. Unless you want to play a Clone Wars/Episode III campaign you really didn't even need anything new. With what's already in print you could run Rebellion or TotJ/KOTOR era adventures indefinitely, with enough "crunch" to keep you sated forever (I doubt I'll ever be able to really use all the PrC's and feats already published, not to mention weapons, ships and the like).

Frankly, even if there wasn't a licensed SWRPG, I'd bet anything that it would be a popular thing for people to haul out d20 Future and play with homebrewed rules. Star Wars roleplaying has a popular following, even if it's not being actively supported, and it's not going away just because WotC is sitting inertly on the biggest license in roleplaying for some reason we can only idly speculate about.

But I will admit, if Gen Con passes with no word, it's pretty dormant, but I won't really worry until they stop their regular web support.

Each to their own, but this seems silly to me. Why sell off perfectly good books just because it's not being actively supported? Does the lack of support makes the books any less viable. I still play Warhammer Quest even though GW quit supporting it back in the late 90's, for instance.

I got what I paid for them and even more on some of the books since they are OOP. Exactly, to each their own. I just do not want to play Star Wars D20 anymore and by no new product coming out that just helped me to make my decision for that game system.

Not wanting to play a game anymore makes a lot more sense to me than no wanting it just because it's not being actively supported. We'll disagree on quality of SWD20 (I'd assume), but that's neither here nor there.

-I would have to agree. There is enough info already out to play Star Wars, and anything else needed can prob be found on independent sites. Also, the fact there is updated jedi counseling and other updates on the WOTC site (to me) says they still support the line.

Im also hoping to hear something at the Gen Con Star Wars siminar (which i will be attending) : )
