Star Wars games in the wake of RotS

I see no reason for splitting it into two classes in the first place, to be honest.

The more I think about it, neither do I. But I'd actually go in the opposite direction and probably ditch the Guardian if anything... although, I'd probably try and take aspects from both classes and do my best to combine them in a balanced way. I'm also a big fan of converting everything to d20 Modern/Future. But that would take a lot of work.

There is always option 4 - just ditch 'jedi counsellors' and have one jedi class. I see no reason for splitting it into two classes in the first place, to be honest.

Attack of the clowns had me thinking that way, but Sith sort of returned me to the two Jedi class split. Yoda and Windu seem to have different styles to me.

Whether or not it's strictly justifiable from examining the movies, I think that in the game, it's a good idea. Why? Because jedi are so durn popular. I think it behooves you to have as many ways to make individual Jedi characters distinctive as practical.

When criticizing a game based on a book or a movie, one must remember they have modestly different criteria.

Psion makes a good point.

There ARE hints through the movies of two different Jedi paths, though they're pretty blurred. However, for the d20 game, the two Jedi classes are both similar and different enough to provide a for some differences that you need in a game like this so everyone isn't playing the same character, while still keeping them both feeling as Jedi.

Or you could always go a completely different route... make a generic Jedi class, and do a number of Feat trees and Talent trees and let them choose their own fully customizable path...
