[Star Wars] Horror in Star Wars??

Anyone played a horror-slanted Star Wars game or campaign? I'm developing something to run at Millenniumcon this month and am looking for a little inspiration.

This is during the Clone Wars (so after AotC and before RotS). The premise so far is that the characters are a strike team sent to help a scientist defect from a Separatist research facility. I was going to go infiltration culminating in high combat and some little surprise twist...but now I'm thinking horror might play better at a Con. My initial thought is that the characters arrive ready to sneak and do battle, and the place is deserted...or partially destroyed... anyway...

For pre-mades, I'm thinking a couple of ARC troopers, a Jedi Guardian (at least one), ubiquitous scoundrel (probably Duros or one of the devil guys...can't remember their names), and a couple of wild card characters. Also considering a squad of regular clone troopers to act as NPC/henchmen fodder (especially the off-camera cut scene kind of fodder). Thoughts on this?

Anyway...any help would be appreciated.

The devil guys are called Devorns, devorians or something like that.

I have plans for a horror type game. Would go into to detail but all my players are dirty bastrds who would read spoilers and come to these boards.

First thing, your best bet is a way of keeping them on the planet. Have a drop ship land them but they are unable to lift of in a couple of days because of solar flares, ion storms or what ever.

Also, its the mood not the game that makes a horror game.

My cousin is the local Star Wars freak where he lives and he always runs a Star Wars game on the local con (this year it revolved around the daily duties of a squad of Storm Troopers, GMed 4 sessions myself ;) ). Last years scenario was very different though...

A group of Jedis are sent to investigate the disappearence of another group of Jedis - arriving in the same neighbourhood of space they pick up the signals of a mysterious ship...... To make a long story short - some thing "lived" inside the ship and when it had ate 20 or so Jedis I'd be able to respawn or something (it's a year since I played it! :uhoh: ). The basic concept was that the ship was imbued with the power of the Dark side and it constantly kept changing itself - going back through a door might not lead you into the same room. Sometimes the room would be upside down etc... pretty spooky. :D

Yep, the race is Devaronian. Ugly males, but the females are all furry and non-devil looking.

As for the game idea...I could see it working just fine. With an entire galaxy, Star Wars is really ripe for almost all genres if you want to stretch it. To echo another suggestion, keep the PCs isolated. It'll add to the more horror like mood, especially if the places they explore are strangely...empty. At first. :)

Or you could go completely munchkin-crazy and find or create d20 stats for the Aliens. Nothing like acid-bleeding, egg-implanting monsters from space to creep a player out.

In some of the Star Wars comics, certain powers of the Sith have been compared to sorcery and even necromancy. Any horror elements dealing with black magic, ghosts, and creepy monsters could fit right into the Star Wars galaxy via the Sith.

There's always Event Horizon...

Also, I remember a Star Wars comic (or short story in a comic) where a pair of droids landed on a scrap heap planet, only to find other droids who worshipped a god of some type.

The empire came looking for the droids, killing many of the planets original droid inhabitants in the process. Then...something (the droid god?) caused the surrounding debris to come alive. By the time things settled, there was no trace of the empirial forces...

The Kython (did I spell this right??) from the Book of Vile Darkness are perfect for this!!

Thanks for the replies...

How does this sound:

- A mudball planet where it rains constantly. The only 'dry land' consists of natural iron causeways that have bubbled up through the muck. The rest is either thick clay mud or sludge lakes.

- There's an expectation of major combat - team gets a squad of Clones, 1-2 of the characters are ARC troopers, intel reports the facility is heavily guarded... etc. Then when they get to the dropzone...nothing...At the facility... it's shattered... power's out, rain's leaking in... ARC troopers have to complete their mission - it's in their genetics.

The following threats are under consideration:

- Gelationous slug-like creatures with a kind of forced telepathy. This allows them to affect their quarries mind...I'm thinking 'lost time' but it may be hard to pull off. This would be a local fauna kind of encounter.
- Something similar to Pitch Black's flying things and in similar numbers... This would be an encounter with the local fauna, not a major threat.
- The scientist builds zombie-like cyborg soldiers out of dead clones that the Separatist's retrieve after major conflicts. These are pieceparted together and given 'life' through some brain matter/implant combination.
- The scientist's latest project was a 'super cyborg soldier' and something went horribly wrong. I was thinking a cyborg-Rancor like creature, but that may be ridiculous. Either way, evidence points to something like this destroyed the facility as they investigate and try to find their quarry. But, I'm thinking this is a red herring.
- Semi-transparent roach-like creatures the size of a large dog that attack in a horde. With some extra junk like paralysis or poison or laser beams for eyes... or something less silly.
- What's behind it all is a race of arachnoid Dark Side Force users that have slipped into the Galaxy from another dimension/sector/galaxy whatever. Final Confrontation in the shattered research facility. I had a scene in my head of one of the characters spotting one of these things on the way through the muck and the rain. Kind of appears then disappears in these constants sheets of water that fall on the planet.... Anyway.. thought it would be eerie enough.
- Oh and I'm thinking the scientist is actually already dead and what they find is a cyborg assassin who pretends to be the scientist... Could be a gotcha at the end as they fly away in the extraction vehicle... Anyway...

Comments...additions?

How about some "ghost-like" monsters as in the Final Fantasy movie? All the ghosts have to do is pass through the characters to kill them (draw out their souls). The PCs would have to run, run, run.

Maybe have energy generators, or forcefields that the ghosts can't get through to allow the PCs some way of affecting their survival.
