Star Wars Miniatures Starships-thoughts?

By reading the online rules, there are some interesting first impressions of note. A capital ship can only attack a starfighter with their point-defense weapons, and only when the starfighter is adjacent. I'll assume there's some benefit the starfighters receive to want to get that close! As for damage, I suppose there's a chance a single hit from a certain weapon type will simply take out a starfighter with a single attack? Anyway, looking forward, thanks again!
Every starfighter in the game, except one, has only one hit point. The exception is Luke Skywalker's X-Wing, which has 1/1. (i.e. one point of damage and it's "damaged" and has reduced stats, it's destroyed on a second hit or if it takes two points of damage).

All attacks have a range of only one square away unless they are using the "Long Range Bombardment" Fleet Commander effect which lets all your starfighters attack two squares away for that round, and the "Incoming Fighters" effect lets you attack fighters (only) from a transport at a range of two squares for that round. Some ship might have a (powerful) special ability which lets it attack at a range of two squares, but I don't know for sure. Given how powerful the special ability of the Vulture Droid Starfighter is (Infinite: When this ship is destroyed, it returns to the fighter pool instead of being removed from play), I could imagine something having this.

Just wanted to clarify wingandsword's statement: ...All fighter attacks have a range of one square away...

Other ships are capable of firing anywhere on the board as long as the target is in arc of that weapon system. Point blank systems are essentially free shots at all enemy fighters adjacent to that ship, unless special text says otherwise.

There are some questions I do have about some of the finer details, but I don't want to hijack the thread.

I actually quite like it, admitedly I'm not really all that into Star Wars or Prepaint figures, but the Prepainting actually works for starships as they are generally fairly simple (aside from dashes of colour they're basically grey and inked darker grey).

It plays fast, doesn't take a whole lot of setup and I really hope they do more in the future.

TIE Fighters have that, too.

The idea is, of course, to model them as being a "renewable resource". But they're (a) limited by the number of fighters you can launch in a turn and (b) crappy compared to other equivalent-value fighters.
