Star Wars on DVD

With changing technology we will soon be able to edit out greedo's shot. Buy the DVD's when they are released and 6 months later there will be a technology to unscamble the DVD so you can copy it onto your computer, edit the shot and burn a new DVD. Problem solved. I think it would be fun to just edit the boring editorials in MST 2000 style.

Yes, I'll buy the special editions on DVD, but I agree with others above, I want the original trilogy. I've got it on VHS (2 different release versions...), so I guess any version on DVD is better than no DVD at all.

I will not buy it. Nope, not going to do it. Because I know that by X-Mas of 05 Lucas will have the Ultimate Super Special Edition of all 6 movies. And that is the one that I will buy. I am sure it will cost a week's wages but I will buy it.

There's a rumor floating around that in 2017, Lucas plans on re-making the original trilogy and releasing them as 100% CGI affairs. Probably balderdash, but the rumor is out there, at any rate.

OT: Tom, how often do you plan on changing your avatar? ;)

I doubt the original edition will be on the DVDs. George Lucas is determined not give the fans what they really want. The entire prequel trilogy is really just one big self-gratification project anyway.

I don't want the so-called Special Edition on DVD. I want my original, uncorrupted trilogy, with none of this "Greedo shoots first and couldn't hit the broad side of a planet" nonsense.
Agreed. Kind of like Speilberg's "let's change the guns to walkie-talkies in E.T." drivel.

It one thing to succumb to political correctness (or whatever it was that made Greedo shoot first) when making a film, but to retroactively go back and do it to films already made....heresy, I say! :)

Someday when your grandkids are watching their A New Hope DVDs on their Sony Personal DVD Viewer headsets, you can sit in your battered recliner and wow them with stories about how the original movie used to be different...it was just called "Star Wars," dadgummit--and Han Solo shot first!

Really...they'll be captivated.

If George Lucas were smart, he'd release each movie as a 4-disc set. The first disc being the original version, the second being the Special Edition, and the other two being extras.

Of course, that's dependent on his being smart. Something which I'd dispute solely on the basis of his addition of Jar Jar Binks to the Star Wars mythos.

Ditto.
