Star Wars Saga/D&D 5th Hybrid [OOC/Rolls]

I just noticed something else we did wrong...

When using Move Object you have two options... one is to directly attack a foe with your Charisma (Use the Force) skill roll. The other is to move or 'throw' something you normally your Charisma (Use the Force) skill roll is only to see if you can move the object. Then to 'throw' it you need a sperate Range Weapon Attack roll.

So Jihahna made her Move Object roll but not her attack roll

I'm honestly confused with Move Object. In the Move Object rules, it states:
You can hurl the target at (or drop it on) another target in range, but you must make a separate Charisma (Use the Force) check and exceed the target’s Reflex Defense. Both targets take damage determined by you check result...
I didn't see anything about a Ranged Weapon Attack, but it does sound like you need two separate UTF checks.

But there's also the Improved Move Object Force Technique which states:
You can move the object now well enough to use it in combat. You may take an Attack action and attempt to strike any target within 30 meters, rolling your Charisma (Use the Force) skill verse the target’s Reflex Defense. If you succeed your attack does 1d6 bludgeoning damage (counts as a ranged attack).

I am not sure what the point of the technique is.

Don't worry about it Shayuri, I believe Jihahna threw the grenade with Move Object.

Ah I meant it to be a separate Ranged Attack roll, sorry will edit. The reason is that if you use Move Object this way it does NOT count as an attack and you can maintain it round to round if you want. If you directly attack with Move Object then you can't maintain it each round... its one of the few Concentration like affects.

Ah and the second one is from the Charisma (Use the Force) which is an improvement over the basic skil that you can move very light objects around with a skill roll no power needed. Anyone with Force Sensitive can do that.

EDIT: the Force Technique allows you to move an object as an attack roll but requires no Move Object power, etc. You can do this every round if you want too, throwing objects at people to deal minor damage to them.

OK thinking about it some more... what makes more sense if you wish to throw something with Move Object... a separate Charisma (Use the Force), a seperate Ranged Attack (Dex +Proficiency) roll or simply count it as part of your Original Use the Force check??? I am very torn here on what way to go... I don't think that want to make it just a simple "you made your roll and you hit with that roll" as it is kind of a special maneuver... or I could just change it that if you take an aggressive action with Move Object the power ends.

Thoughts?

I am not sure what the point of the technique is.

Note that this was worded weirdly but it was listed that way in Saga. BUT I updated both the basic Charisma (Use the Force) skill use to Move Minor Object and the technique to...

Improved Move Minor Object: You can now move a minor object well enough to use it in combat. You may take an Attack action and attempt to strike any target within 30 meters, rolling your Charisma (Use the Force) skill verse the target’s Reflex Defense. If you succeed your attack does 1d6 + your Wisdom modifier in bludgeoning damage (counts as a ranged attack).

Hmm... tough one.

I think two rolls, both using the UtF skill: the first to determine how large of an object one can pick up (and how much damage it will do) and one to hit the target. Granted, the UtF roll may have a much higher modifier than the to-hit roll given Skill Expertise, but then there are a lot of feats that help to raise the normal to-hit rolls of other characters. So maybe that's balanced.

I'd have it use one action if they wanted to pick something up and throw it in one round. Alternately, the initial Move Object use could be changed to a Bonus Action and the attack would require an Action.

The technique thing makes sense. Not playing a Force person, I keep forgetting the powers have to refresh. Seems like a nice little ability, although the damage is pretty low for the point where you would be picking up techniques.

I don't think Jihahna actually used the Force, though: she just tossed it grenade-style. It's only an 8m toss after all, well within short grenade range.

I was assuming she used Move Object as she only gave herself +3 to the roll which is her Use the Force skill roll.

As for Improved Minor Object... what might be better? Maybe 2d6 + wisdom (and of course 1/2 your level). A blaster pistol does 3d6 + dex... and this one does not require a weapon. So if you were disarmed for some reason...
