Well, at least none of you don't believe he's Rodney. That actually happened to me on Rodney's own board, oh so many years ago.

Yeah, Moridin is the big 'R' himself.

So would that be a "D'oh!" moment? :D

Unrelated, according to Wally-World's website, I should be getting my copy of SECR today *rubs hands in eager anticipation*

Wizards always said the line was on hiatus, rather than dead.

I think this was the source of my thoughts. Often, we have heard from gaming companies that a line was on hiatus, only to hear a year later that it was dead in the water. For a time, all we heard were the naysayers, speaking against what appeared to be a public face of "No comment, other than to say it's on hiatus. Oh, and minis are doing well, so go buy some minis." As actions speak louder than words, it appeared the naysayers were correct, and there was a lot of prior market experience to back their call.

I am glad to see that the naysayers were wrong in this, and that there is still some SW RPG love going on over at WOTC. The SECR sounds amazing, and I like everything I hear so much that I'm going to be buying me a copy this next week. Thank you very much, Owen and Rodney, for your hard work on this project, and I am also thankful to WOTC for bringing back some much needed attention to the SW RPG experience.

Now, if only WOTC would consider a batch of D20 Modern minis, I think I could die a happy man.

Once Again, My Apologies,
Flynn

I think what we saw was a symptom of what had been going on at WotC for the past couple of years company-wide, and has recently turned around - the relative silence from the employees compared to the golden days of about 2000 - 2003. This has turned around a lot lately, with Scott Rouse leading the charge, and just the open communications has fostered a lot of goodwill that had kind of dried up. Just the act of hiring Rodney was a good move on their part, I feel. I'm always struck that his and Erik Mona's paths have been pretty similar -- die-hard fans who found their shot, took it, and ran with it to great success. :)

Personally, I'm glad to hear about this recent change in policy. I feel better as a consumer knowing what's going on, and the old policy of non-communication did indeed have an impact on how I spent my money.

Thanks for the update,
Flynn

A very rewarding approach, yes. :)

Cheers,

Heh, I take that as a huge compliment. I consider Erik to be a good friend and he's helped me out a lot over the years, both by having faith in me enough to publish my work and also by helping me improve my writing. To be held up in comparison to him is certainly an honor. :)

It was meant to be. Greyhawk has Erik, Star Wars has you. :)

Well, I found a copy at my neighborhood Borders, in the Star Wars section instead of the RPG section. Last I saw, there was another copy still there...

And having stayed up half the night, I can honestly say that it was well worth picking it up at full price. It looks fantastic, and I hope that I get the chance to try it out soon. Even if I don't, I like contrasting it with my own homemade system for streamlining combat and such, and am pleased with the similarities.

Thanks once again, Owen and Rodney, for this fine addition to my Star Wars collection.

With Regards,
Flynn
