I'm surprised that no one has started a thread about the biggest PC game of the year. I bought it, and haven't really bothered with the single player campaign at all.

Instead, I'm doing a bunch of multiplayer matches; I'm a big fan of the ranking system that Blizzard has used; I still remember some of the one-sided blowouts in the original BW. I placed in Silver, and worked my way up to Platinum. :) It looks like I'm getting better. If you want to look me up, my name is Endgame.

I've also done some co-op matches with some buddies of mine against the AI, typically Very Hard. We lose a lot. :)

I've heard that RPG.net is having its own SC2 tournament, which I think is pretty cool.

How is everyone else liking the game?

I got it, and since I've been home on disability leave, I've had time to play the single player campaign through. It was well done, although I sometimes felt some of the cutscene bits between missions were a waste. They looked nice, but they didn't add much.

The campaign is very different from multiplayer because you have to choose research projects and purchase unit upgrades from the campaign screens rather than in each individual mission. You need to make some choices on what to upgrade, which can change things. Also, there are three missions in the campaign where you need to decide which mission you will undertake, which then changes the following mission, or provides different units. I am currently replaying the campaign making different choices than the first time.

I'm not great at multiplayer (my reaction times are pretty slow) so I usually only play casual games with friends rather than get routinely embarassed by strangers on Battlenet, so I have yet to give multiplayer a try. Can't wait for my friends to pick the game up and one friend to set up his home network so we can all play at his place.

You will be sorely disappointed. SC2 does not have network play, Only battle.net. And the last I heard, multiple battle.net sessions on one IP Address will crash the sessions, preventing multiple players from the same location. This is one of the big reasons I will not buy SC2, not until it is fixed or comes down to bargain bin prices.

To be honrdt the Single player campaign was very eh... you knew who the traitor was going to be in the first scene. some of the characters you met were interesting but as a player who prefers single player games, It just felt a tad cliched.

I'm enjoying the single player campaign so far. Lots more fiddly bits than Warcraft III or Starcraft I (buying upgrades, mercs, etc.) which is cool. Story is only ok, but it sure is a pretty game.

Playing as Rurik if anyone wants an easy multiplayer win...

Without that 3-digit number (hover mouse over your portrait to see it, for example), your name is not really useful, because both (name and number) together are requires to send messages and add someone to your friend list, and such. :)

I really like the campaign so far. The story is growing quite well and really gets interesting later on (just started with the invasion). All the decisions (what missions to do, what to research, what upgrades to buy, what mercs to contract, and so on) are very cool. And, as usual, there are so many funny bits and pieces scattered around the game. Fun, fun, fun. :D

Bye

Endgame 565. Thanks Thanee for the heads up; all of my friends are people I actually know, so I didn't need their 3 digit number.

Got into the Diamond League now; the competition is a lot stiffer.
