Stargate SG-1: Season 9 7.29.05

Well, I think they set up the new season nicely. I didn't get into Stargate until about two seasons ago, and I think that the writing now is as good or better than its been since I started watching. The budget is clearly much higher too, so I'll give this a thumbs up. I get the feeling things are about to get real ugly real quick, and I'm looking forward to it.

I'll be curious how the "crusade" shapes up. That world didn't strike me as being particularly technologically advanced, but I'm sure the Ori or whatever they are will help in that regard.

"Origin", Episode #90(3)4. Mistake is Yahoo's

Daniel and Vala inadvertently expose the Earth to a new threat.

Cast: Beau Bridges, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Ben Browder.

Ah shucks!!! Not again, can't earth get a break!
The last two episodes have had Amanda Tapping in the credits, but I haven't seen her. Am I missing something or is she just being used as an extra for a while?

I was wondering, did they ever actually say onscreen why O'Neill's not around?

I mean, I know because I read spoilers/interviews/etc but was it ever stated?

I don't think so.

In the first episode General Landry told Mitchell that O'Neil was the head of Homeworld Security. It was very quick and easy to miss with everything else going on at the moment when Mitchell first talks to to Landry in his office and learns SG-1 has dissolved.

Damnit. Ate my post. Then doubled it.

Ah well. There I was waiting for that scene in the back of my mind for three weeks.
Turns out I missed it in the first act of episode one. Huh. Eh, whatever.

.

Again we Earthlings have travelled to a galaxy and brought back an nasty, evil, seemingly
all-powerful enemy that wants nothing else than to destroy us. Yay!

  • First, we went out into the Milky Way and attracted the attention of the
Goa'uld that are thirsting for conquest.
  • Second, we hyperdrive to the Ida/Othalla galaxy and brought back with us
    the Replicators.
  • Third, we gate to Pegasus and show the Wraith the way to an all-night
    all-you-can-eat buffet.
And now we travel to the Ori's galaxy (do we have a name for it yet?) and disrespect
their religion so they launch a holy crusade against us.

We really should stop going to another galaxies!

I don't think they're coming to get us because we "dissed" their religion. I think it was pretty clear that they are doing it simply because they feel superior and that we "need to be shown the light" as it were. I don't think that anything beyond accepting their religion would have stopped them from coming.
