hey anyone seen the commercial for this?

straight to DVD? ...

wolf is curious for some info ...

It was a production of the Action channel, part of a group of cable movie channels. Sort of a second string Showtime or HBO. It premiered on there about 2 months ago IIRC. I saw a chunk of it and it wasn't bad, but not terrific either.

Do you know how it fits into the continuity of the first film?
Is is supposed to be a continuation or doe sit follow a different set of marines...?

It is set sometime after the first movie, a couple of years later at least. I can't remember how many though. There are no character overlaps as far as I remember.

I saw it on T.V. about a month ago.

It is BAD, very, very bad. If you liked the first one you'll hate this movie! Unless you have two robots and a human heckling it, avoid at all costs!

The acting was horrible, the story was horrible, the special effects were horrible. Their were times when the film was so grainy you couldn't really see what was going on.

I saw the ads on Action for it, then it started playing a few weeks ago. I have had the opportunity to watch the whole thing, but I caught the latter 3rd of it the first time and it really didn't seem all that great.

It has nothing to do with the first movie other than being set in the same "universe".

Without going into detail or spoilers, it's about an outpost that has to wait to be evacuated because other units are in worse shape. There aren't any bugs around...or so they think. You see new bugs.

The only actor I can recognize was the guy from "The Sentinel" series on UPN.

I don't think I could see the second. The first movie was damn near the worst adaptation I've ever seen. It could have been salvaged, I guess, if in that scene where they all stand in a circle and then shoot at the bug that erupts in the middle, they then end up shooting each other. A complete bloodbath where all the stupid people die because of their stupidity would have still been a crappy adaptation of one of the finest works of military science fiction, but at least would have been true to Heinlein.

That's a shame.
I don't remember much of the book, most of what I remember comes from the bookcase strategy game (Avalon Hill?) from a few decades ago.
I was hoping we'd see more intergalatic life, like the skinnies (official name?)...
Ah well.
Sounds like it's not even worth renting.
