Starting a Story Hour

Hey! That's a good question. Do you include that in the Story Hour? Or do you sit back and wait for it to come out in the game?

Okay, so what do you do wit information only one player has? For instance it could be someting from teir backstory that they haven't revealed but is important, or it could be something only they know or notice and decide not to share with the others quite yet.

Well, if you trust your players not to use their player knowledge to metagame, then you could go ahead and put it in there.

I think you might be better off to make some oblique reference to it in the story hour ("Character X caught something out of the corner of his eye, but said nothing. Must have been the wind.") but not elaborate. Then later, when the rest of the party gets the big revelation, so do the readers. I think that would be more dramatic and interesting most of the time.

AS a general rule, I'll generally put a warning to the other players at the top of the post. Usually something as simple as: this post contains spoilers if you're a player in my game.

On the whole, I'm not overly concerned if they read stuff they're not supposed to, because I trust my players not to act on the knowledge. The warning is mostly there for the players who like surprises in the game.

I trust my players to either not read it ot to not act upon the knowledge if they read it. There's no way I'd lay with people I don't trust.

:D A good policy. (I'm not laughing AT you. I'm laughing NEAR you.)

My comments above were not meant to dwell too heavily on the trust issue. As a player, I genuinely like to be surprised with heretofore unknown information. As a DM, I like surprising my (other) players with that sort of thing. As a Story Hour reader, I like the surprising moment of revelation. That's the main reason I would not include it in the earlier write ups.

don't forget to post relevant stat blocks for NPC, pc, monsters and such on the other forums too. :D

some of us love to peruse.
