Static.

I've got a couple of ideas on this. 1) A monk, who could actually use them effectively or 2) I was thinking of a mad scientist with his blast goggles on, sceaming it's alive while wearing them. Not quite sure which to try.
Roll the monk first. A caster has better things to do than shock people for 5d6 damage.

Those things would make playing a guitar difficult, and that's one of the kinds of dexterity I normally associate with arcane spell failure.

And yes, I know there's an open can of worms here.

Caveat: I've assumed that we're talking 3.X. If you're designing for a clone and I missed the tip-off somewhere, sorry for the poor language skills. Haven't had my second cup of coffee yet. ;)

That warning in place: there's no such thing as a "shield slot". A character can wield as many magic shields as their hands allow. But they only get to count the biggest Shield bonus to their AC.

It seems to me that the AC bonus from these gauntlets is the kind of thing that wouldn't stack with a buckler. Going form that to typing the bonus Shield makes them slightly more attractive for two-weapon fighting, but I tend to think they were already going that way.

I know there's no shield slot, but I get what your saying. I was thinking of making it stack with actualy shields, but I forgot to take into account that TWF was in fact the original purpose for this build. I should mention that metal tipped arrows are affected.

Yes, I know that. But in my head, i can't get a guy with hair standing on end, yelling [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xos2MnVxe-c]YouTube - ‪"It's Alive!!!"‬‏[/ame]

Either way, i'll be making both.

Yes. The armor bonus is non-magical, merely for being a metal that covers your forearms.

just reread the shocking grasp spell, think they would be better in a MW leather, and loose the +1 ac alltogether, if you get into this sort of piece meal AC It gets complicated fast. Leather would allow anyone to use them as well, including mages.

this would drop teh cost badk to about 10 k.

So what do you want to pit him against?

Well, I first wanted to eliminate the typical incorporeal problem. That's a non-issue against CR appropriate enemies. The other problem would be magic. My saves are good, but non-save/save or lesser problem will screw me. If a caster used Greater Invisibility (easily feasible at my level) i'd be screwed. I'm looking for suggestions, so if you know exactly how a monster could take care of "frank," do share.
