Stats for Gods

20 as a base score seem to be okay. I think I'll also limit that you can have only one score 40 or better, and nothing above 50. This way you'll have divide the 40 points among more than two attributes.

Most of the dieties in D&Dg use the divine array for base stats:
35 28 25 24 24 24
Dieties also get a +1 ability score bonus for each divine rank, in addition to normal bonuses from every fourth class level. So a demigod with DR 3 and 20 class levels would have the above stats plus 8 extra points to allocate.

Hmm, that sums up to 160 point plus divine ranks and rises from hit dice. Strangely enough when I calculated the stats of several randomly picked deities from D&D they all had less points in stats with one exception that had more.

Not the dieties follow the divine array, although even the ones that don't are generally in the ballpark.

As an example, take Boccob (as he's the first non-monster diety in the book). He has 40 class levels (+10 stats) and DR 17 (+17). His stats are:

24 27 28 29 29 50

Which totals 187 (=160+10+17). Specifically, +5 is added to two of the 24's from the divine array, +2 is added to the 25, and +15 is added to the 35.

Or Heimdall, who has 20 class levels and DR 15. His stats add up to 185.

But then there's Re-Horakhty, with 30 class levels and DR 19. His stats should add up to 191 if he uses the divine array, but instead they add up to 193.

I think a heavily modified point buy works best. Start with 24, 34 being the highest (or maybe 36) and give them some points (so 24 costs 0, 25 1, 30 6, 31 8, 32 10, 33 13, 34 16). Plus levels and DR.
