I really like Lower Decks. I find, beneath all the bluster, it's a really good star trek show.

That said, I can see how some people are put off by the irreverence. My wife, for example, a big TOS fan, didn't really care for it.

As a big TOS fan I enjoy trying to place all of the off-hand references.

There is, and it's another banger IMO. But tonally completely different!

It is a mark of this show’s quality - particularly its characters - that it can follow a fairly lighthearted crossover with a harrowing look at the effects of war without skipping a beat. Excellent stuff, really enjoying this.

It even has what I can only think of as a bizarre Lower Decks easter egg, with Nurse Chapel on her first day in the trenches having to perform the same unorthodox medical technique that Tendi did on her first day in sickbay.
