Streaming services, which do you have or are you getting rid of?

I was considering getting Disney+ again after a couple years without, but with their recent cowardice and absurd desire to take over even more of the media landscape, I’ve decided to never directly give Disney money again.

Now I have dropout and Nebula, and that’s it. Both are well worth every penny. Dropout would be a steal at twice the price.

Confused Season 5 GIF by Paramount+

Hey, @payn ? The memeage is making it so that others don't get what you don't get. Maybe use your words, please.

The world moves fast, so my household is waiting a little bit to see what shakes out of the mess (that we can't really speak to directly, due to the no-politics rule). But, if there's no real change by Monday, we are apt to close our Disney+ and Hulu off as well. In the meantime, we aren't watching things on either.

We are in the same boat. In addition, we already nixed our Peacock and Netflix accounts several months ago, and we ditched Amazon Prime last month. Currently we are solid with our Dropout TV and Nebula accounts. Apple TV is part of a package deal my wife has so that isn't going anywhere yet.

The plan is to turn on Netflix once or twice a year for a month and then binge what we want to see and then turn it off. It is just too expensive to run year round.

With the price of Bread going up it is hard to maintain our subscription(s) to the Circus.

Dropout is an astonishingly good deal, and their new shows this year have been phenomenal.
Yeah the concentration of talent is amazing, and I think that Sam’s closeness with everyone and his dedication to fairly distributing the fruits of everyone’s labour pushes the entire operation to a level of dedication to making excellent work that would otherwise be hard to accomplish.

Just got Disney+ again a week before the Kimmel thing so yeah, kind of pissed off but they have our money for a month at least. And we can watch King of the Hill, which might be the best thing ever this year (Bobby Hill is absolutely the best role model on TV for gen Z men). Might be able to fit in Interior Chinatown in the month as well.

We've cancelled Netflix, which means we have it for another week and a half, which we'll probably use to catch up on old DS9 episodes. But we don't have anything else. Probably head over to Apple after this month of D+ runs out to check out Murderbot and wait for more Slow Horses.

We are in the same boat.

I would also like to say (while trying to stay within the rules) - I am not passing any judgement on folks who don't cancel Disney+. No large company is perfect, of course - Disney's approach to extending IP is questionable, and their track record on paying creators isn't stellar. But Disney has also done a lot of good for the LGBTQ+ community, STEM education, and supported other positive causes. So, I'm okay with folks who pause on this one.

I don't like a choice they made, but it was made under some duress. If nothing else, allowing them a little time to find a strategy for response, and maybe put together some allies, is valid.

This is my exact stance. Many might say the cancelations are having an effect, but other than the publicity, they can't have any numbers yet, so perhaps this was the plan the entire time. Who knows.
