i always thought of metamaigc feat both regular and sedden to be weak they have some minor uses but i usally don't take one at most is all i've ever had.
so as for them being broken i say get yourself a metarod and use your feat for something better.

I sure hope it's not prohibitted, I've been planning to do it!

I might not get to lay traps, but I'll be darned if I can't make it work in my favor somehow.

Me: "OK! OK! You got me! The treasure map is all yours!"

NPC: "Treasure Map? What Treasure Map?"

Me: "Damn! You didn't even know about the treasure map? I don't suppose you'd let me keep it then?"

NPC: "Give it over! ...Wait a second, this isn't a treasure map. This is just a piece of paper that says: 'This morning I prepared Explosive Ru'..."

*BOOM*

Tee hee!

Fixed it for ya ;).

I'm a fan of the Sudden feats, and even think Sudden Quicken should lose two prerequisites so it is takeable.

This is basically because they are a good early power boost, but do not overshadow the full feats in any way. I am a big fan of feats that give a significant bonus once or twice per day, as it adds a big element of choice to the character. Instead of jsut going by rote every round, you get to make a choice on what to do and how to do it.

Just like my early 3.0 fighters. I took Power attack and Combat expertise with all of them and loved the choices I could make in combat. Same deal.

I'd say let the divine metamagics go free as well. Characters with limited times per day abilities need exquisite control to avoid blowing their "big guns" on relatively harmless encounters - control that is virtually impossible for players to maintain with any regularity. Are those kobold bandits CR 6? CR 9? CR 12? Are they all the same level, or is one of them much stronger or weaker than the others? Only the DM knows, and it's usually impossible to make a good guess until a few rounds of combat have gone by - and if someone waits a few rounds of combat before tossing a DMM:Maximize or Sudden Maximize, that seriously lowers the efficiency of using a maximized damage spell.

Of course, if the DM is letting them have this information for free (as many DMs accidentally do), that changes things by rendering efficient use possible. But most of the time, someone with Sudden Metamagic or Divine Metamagic should wind up wasting their big shot on an encounter that didn't necessarily call for it.

You should've taken Disciple of the Sun.

Or Divine Spell Power. Or Divine Shield. Or another extra turning ;)

It's a good thing the PHB2 allows you to correct all character development mistakes, right?

Nah, none of that. If you wanted to be better at actually turning, then nothing beats Disciple of the Sun. Sure, improved turning makes it a little better to get those high level undead, but there's a huge difference between making the vampire turn tail and exploding.
