Superman Returns poster!

I don't think you are going to find anyone as ripped as Supes is drawn, at least not outside of professional weightlifters. And how many of them can act?

Michael O'Hearn did a good acting job as Superman in Sandy Collora's World's Finest.

Reeve's Superman seems like the buffest. I thought Dean Cain's was in great shape as well, but that could just be memories from youth playing tricks on me (I was fond of Lois and Clark)

Meh. Dean Cain I can take or leave. He just seemed to much of a football jock to me (no offense to real life jocks, don't gimme a wedgie! :p ), and lacked much of the vulnerability that Chris Reeve could convey with his eyes, a quality Tom Welling has as well. And looking at that pic pretty much confirms how perfect Reeve was at portraying the big blue Boy scout, the physique, the posture, the attitude, the good guy looks, everything. He was the one.

I thought Dean Cain brought a more human element to Superman than Reeve did, though that's probably as much of a result of it being a TV show as anything else, and a light hearted one at that. You got to see what he eats (Junk food, doesn't bother him), how he did the supersuit laundry, see him shave, and in many ways, see more into the Clark side of things. Keep in mind, that he gained more confidence as the series went on as Clark too, so he wasn't quite the same Clark as he was at the beginning of the series.

But everyone is entitled to their oppinion.

I think I see what Chris Reeve had that Routh doesn't - shoulders.

In addition, check where Routh's beltline sits compared to the others. Moving the belt down has teh effect of making his torso look long, and thus enhance the thin-look. The higher beltlilne makes the blue upper body look more square, and thus more buff.

Not shoulders as much as neck. Chris Reeve's neck was very wide (probably from his swimming background), whereas Routh's neck is slimmer.

I'd love to see how Tom Welling would look like in full Superman gear, with short hair and without the make-up blush on his cheeks.
