Honestly, given what a creep Lex is, it works both ways.
That's one thing that I have a problem resolving. The tone of Lex was great. The delivery... well it seemed more campy than menacing, though the intent was definitely creepy- especially with the way he treated the women in his life. The best Lex's IMO still remain Rosenbaum and Brown, with Cudlitz getting the nod for a unique menacing take, followed after a big gap by the others, though Cryer's would have been great if they hadn't reduced him to a caricature in his later outings. HIs one scene with Welling was great.

I think that's also where the heel turn for Jor-El came from
I thought this fell back further to the storyline in the 80s or 90s where Supes got really in touch with that periods version of Kryptonian heritage which was very cold and sterile? Lotsa circles on the clothes. I thought it was a variation of "last son of Krypton" but neither my memory nor google agrees

The John Byrne reboot of Superman after Crisis on Infinite Earths is where we got both Lex as a businessman and Kryptonians not being a warm and cuddly bunch. Them being actual conquerors wasn't part of that run, though.

Mr. Terrific has been steadily rising in profile since he appeared in one of the modern day Justice Society runs. In the Justice Gang, he's serving the same role as Batman in the Justice League -- the super-smart billionaire who vaguely looks down on Superman while still being a hero -- but without ruining the Batman mystique by having him run around in the daylight and on camera. I suspect we're going to see a lot of Terrific going forward, especially with the fantastic appearance in this film.
I've been reading his Year One comic, and honestly, his tragedy rings more true to me than Batman's ever did.
