Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

I think if any new character popped up and said "I mastered every martial art, and also I'm a billionaire tech genius and the world's greatest detective," people would roll their eyes. Everyone who follows Batman pretty much has to have a smaller portion of his power set.

Yeah, classically Mr. Terrific was just the ultimate jack-of-all-trades, but I think that overlapped with a couple too many other people so they leaned him into the tech more because DC actually doesn't have a lot of heroes who lean really heavily on that, at least if you exclude Ted Kord.

I thought this fell back further to the storyline in the 80s or 90s where Supes got really in touch with that periods version of Kryptonian heritage which was very cold and sterile? Lotsa circles on the clothes. I thought it was a variation of "last son of Krypton" but neither my memory nor google agrees

I'd gotten the same impression it was extension of the Byrne version of Krypton. Which was, at best, pretty arrogant-elitist and didn't give much a darn about non-Kryptonians.

Yes, this is my memory too. Not being warm is quite a big step away from conquer the earth and take many wives.

They weren't just "not warm" though; they gave the impression that they'd normally have considered Terrans beneath their notice, to the point if they had the ability to save humans they wouldn't bother. That's not the same as conquest, of course, but note that its funny how people's morality sometimes goes downhill when they're facing an extinction event.

Huh? How? The movie doesn’t make fun of them at all, it just makes them earnest farmers that look and talk like midwestern farmers.

I’ve seen this all over the web, but I don’t get it. I know people with those accents, and they are absolutely rural Kansans.
I thought that was a bit over the top, especially with how slowly Ma Kent spoke. It seemed a bit like a characicutre to me. Maybe it was meant to be. Still loved the movie!

I can't really tell the difference. There's general US/Canadia, Noo Yoik, Southern. Maaaaybe a high school girl everything goes up at the end one.

Yeah I mean I am Californian, and when I call my company’s corporate “store support” line and get someone from Kansas, Tennessee, or a few other places, I feel like I’m talking to the sloth character from Zootopia. It is so slow I struggle to remember how the damn sentence started, by the end of it.

Yeah you gotta be immersed in a US country accent or two to hear the difference between them tbh.
