Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

You have an opinion about who Snyder is, without ever having had a conversation with the guy
So do you.

So that criticism applies 100% to everything you've said.

Therefore at best you're balancing the equation and neither of our positions or more or less valid for you saying this.

Or am I wrong? Is he a personal friend? Is that the claim? It's not impossible. Hell I went to school with Orlando Bloom (in the year above, big pot smoker, dated the girl I liked lol) and a couple of other famous/semi-famous people, as I've mentioned before (did not stay friends with any of the ones who succeeded in Hollywood sadly lol). But is that the claim?

I can't imagine ever characterizing someone I have never even spoken with as shallow in their thinking, but...whatever.
You know, I am confident you have, in your lifetime, characterized a politician or superstar or actor or Paris Hilton as shallow or superficial at some point, so I don't feel like this is a compelling or plausible claim. Now if you feel bad about having done that and wouldn't do it again, okay cool, I buy that, you're a better person than me in that respect. But I don't buy that man in his 40s or older, who lived through the 1990s and was part of 1990s and 2000s culture, has never, ever suggested someone they don't know was an airhead (let alone a mere "shallow thinker").

I mean, if you want I, I can modify my statement to "all the interviews I've seen, and all the movies he's made give me the distinct impression that Snyder is a shallow thinker, but hey at least not an outright fascist like most people who made 300 would have to have been". Is that better? It's not a statement of fact that way.

Sure. I am sure you dealt with the hypersonic speed punches really well, too. Glad to hear it's not theoretical.
This is a bit of a silly one because Superman is clearly hurt far, far, far, far, far less by each individual attack from Zod than a human would be with a human of similar size and strength hitting him the same number of times at a normal human speed with normal human strength.

Like, if I got hit anywhere near as many times as Superman does in that fight (or slammed into objects - even ones relatively softer than me), I'd probably be dead from head/neck trauma and/or internal bleeding (in either brain or abdomen). Superman doesn't even have a split lip or a black eye! Let alone a broken nose!

Also no way that's the first fight he's ever been in. The first with a Kryptonian, sure, but his form is insanely too good for him not to be a highly practiced combatant. He doesn't throw punches like a five-year-old or a sheltered only child (something I've witnessed lol). Everything he does in that fight he does with incredible, shocking confidence. The man flies through falling buildings without even blinking. Hypersonic punches are lovetaps to him. You can watch it on YouTube if you don't believe me.

EDIT - Also rewatching it wow they take pains to show how extremely unevacuated the city is, how everyone is still there, which means the "body count in the thousands" is absolutely canon.

EDIT EDIT - Man he gets gutpunched so hard by Zod that there are indeed supersonic shockwaves radiating from it, and Superman reacts less than I would if a CHILD play-punched me in the gut lol, like he doesn't react AT ALL. Literally nothing. He no-sells it. Zod actually looks like he's struggling hard to have any effect on Superman for a lot of that fight. Clearly a hypersonic punch is less than child's play to Superman.

No, you are mistaken. I don't have an opinion on who Snyder is. I have an opinion on the products he has made. I also know that said products are not solely his responsibility, and that there are a lot of chefs in the kitchen, so to speak, and so I can't ever be sure that what I am getting is exactly coming from him. As such, to criticize his thinking (both the nature and how good he is at it) seems crazy to me.

As well, I never said that I have "never, ever suggested someone they don't know was an airhead"; I have, and learned that people are way more complex than snap judgments based on a tiny bit of data. So I stopped doing it (not always successful, because unlike everyone but classic Jonathan Kent, I am fallible), because it's really unfair.

...who else could he possibly have fought?
