D&D 4E Suppose 4e is released, do you buy it?

Would you buy 4e (now or later)?

Hey! I am really curious: how many D&D 3.0 and 3.5 books do you own, did you use some in actual play, and are there some that you even didn't bother to read. (Maybe some you even didn't bother to open, and were left in their wrapping?).

i own all of the WotC books. and all of the books of some third party publishers too.

i don't use any for my OD&D campaign.

but i am currently a player in a 3.11ed for Workgroups campaign. you can read about it in my sig.

yes, i do have some books i haven't read yet.

It depends whether I have been able to convert my group over to True20 by then ....

Of course, won't be buying 4.0 under any circumstances - I'll wait for 4.5 :)

I like 3.5 D&D, really do, but here lately I have started to look on the rumors of 4e as I did 2nd edition and that drove me to different RPGs. It is not that I have a lack of satifaction in the game but that it seems that it has a lack of satifaction in me as a gamer.

:\

Ok i would only buy 4th edition if it where an update to the 3.5 rules (its still d20) and i can still use all my old stuff will little to no adjustment.
I would however buy all the Forgotten Realms stuff anyway regardless of edition just because the lore is good no matter what edition you play.

While I'm sure I would buy 4e, at the same time I feel that I'm moving away from the D&D style of game (parties that depend on the 4 core classes, heavy reliance on magic and magic gear for game balance). 4e would probably be used more for idea mining.

Cheers!

A'koss.

No option.

There's no way I'd buy 4.0 under any circumstance if a) it wasn't backwards compatible b) 3.5 is still "new" c) the primary motivation behind 4.0 is $$, and not a better game.

Meet those three and I'm in.

If I hear that barbarians no longer exist and mine has to be converted to an "angry" fighter, if I just bought the leatherbound DMG and see advertisements for 4.0 in it, or if 4.0 is a compilation of 3.5 supplements with new and improved feats and prestige classes... in that case, I'll find another way to enjoy my leisure time that doesn't include WoTC products.

I'm in the "maybe, but only..." camp. My fear is that the next edition will be even more complex and rules-heavy than the current one. And if that is the case I will certainly not buy 4e. Perhaps WotC will then put "D&D 4e..forget Rolemaster, we are bigger!" on their ads :\
