I agree, I could not believe how much time he cost them!Silver Moon said:Enjoying this Survivor very much so far. I do think that the guy who couldn't climb a ladder should have been the one to go instead through.
I agree, he played in the 70's, and they made a lot less then they do now (still more than the average joe made at that time thoughJoeBlank said:Yeah, I was not surprised that Gary's secret came out so early. Just because he was in the NFL in the past does not mean he is or was a millionaire. Seems like he would be able to explain that to the others. I think he took a dumb risk making this a secret.
Which hurts his chances more:
1. Having the others know he played in the NFL years ago?
2. Having the others know he is a proven liar?
If the sportscaster and Gary make it to the merge, the guy is in trouble.

Just to clear things up, he played in the 80's (was drafted in 1980). There was no way Danni would have remembered him from the 70's, as well. She would have been 5 in 1980, so him playing the 80's puts it all right on the money.griff_goodbeard said:I agree, he played in the 70's, and they made a lot less then they do now (still more than the average joe made at that time though). John Crichton said:I mentioned this in the other thread but since this one is dated, I'll say it again - Gary's lie could come back to bite him but if he gives his reasoning (which ain't bad) people could be okay with it. It all depends on how the rest of the players view him and how he is around camp.
He's an ex-quarterback, not an ex-genius.Cthulhudrew said:That's probably true, though I don't know why he went with a flatout- "No, she's wrong" rather than the "Yeah, I get told I look like that guy all the time" that he mentioned using in the first episode.
Nah, the prompting is unneeded. CBS didn't know that he would take the tactic he choose during casting. He could have easily told the truth from the start and none would have been the wiser. Was the sportscaster put there just in case? Maybe, but anyone who lived in the area or was a fan of one of the teams he played for could have picked him out as well.Cthulhudrew said:I find it kind of odd myself that it came up in the show so early- that she brought it up out of the blue without any kind of prompting (and let's face it, having a guy who is going to lie about it and having someone on the other team who can "out" him is a little bit too coincidental, CBS!)
I guess I could see a scenario where Danni mentions, "yeah, talk about unfair, you guys have a quarterback on your team" and the other guy goes "wtf are you talking about?"
The skeptic in me wonders if there might not have been some prompting from producers, though, somewhere.
