Suspension of Disbelief stretched to the breaking point in the World of Darkness

I am not very familiar with NWoD, but I have played the old one, and in the old one, Elder Vampires WERE gods. As the old one was coming to a close, as I recall, an Antideluvian (yes, I know that is pretty much as high as you go) woke up and ERADICATED AN ENTIRE BLOODLINE! One vampire. If that is not god-like, tell me what is? That is part of the reason, again in WoD not NWoD cause I don't know, you don't play humans. Even Hunters stood no chance when you started talking about Antideluvians and Children of Gaea. Mages COULD hold their own, but not very easily.

All that having been said, I have to agree about dropping the ST/game. Still go hang out with your friend, but since she is a player, just go four hours late. The game is over and you still get the quality time. Or, why not ask the ST if you can co-chair the game? TEACH HER/HIM. No one just starts out as a great ST/DM/GM.

And about Sicily being SO BIG that something like that could be hidden. Sicily is roughly the size of Massachusetts with only slightly less population. It isn't THAT big.....

I did have something like this in a D&D game: We had to go down a staircase that was so long it took us 8 hours to go down. On the bottom, there was a vast room (we never saw any walls). We defeated a glabrezu down there (as well as some other Cyricist cultists conducting some anarchic ritual). We then had to flee back up the stairs as they were slowly crumbling after the demon died.
And the whole thing was under a large city.

Sounds very Lovecraftian to me. I think its kind of neat, but its all in how you spin it, eh?

It's a game about vampires, werewolves, and mages. The size of the structure bothers you?

I think it is less about the size of the structure or even the beleiveability, and more about the ST. A good GM could present you with such a thing and have you wondering how it would be possible. Even then, I get the feeling it is less about the complex and more about the way the NPCs railroad the players through dungeon crawl adventures in what is usually a more RP game. If the players had entered the complex to rescue the elder from his mad creation and earned his gratitude rather than been thrown down there to be tormented, I suspect the OP would not really be dwelling on the feasability of the complex too much.

Is it possible to tell them that you don't feel like playing in the game, but will just show up for the dinner/movies/whatnot and continue contributing to that?

I mean, it may not thrill them to hear it, but if they're as good friends as you say they should be able to accept things. It should be obvious to all involved that you're not digging the game, so maybe letting the others go on without you is a viable option.

I'm doing what I can to talk to her, slowly, but part of me dealing with this is explaining to others just what I'm dealing with. It's one of those horror stories we all have.

Sonds like you just need to take this to RL and discuss it with the other players. If they are havig fun, then maybe it's just you, if they are disatisfied, then it's time to address the ST with some honest critism of her game. It is a game and it doesn't matter if it's rational or not or if it is in the overall theme of the game if most are havign issues with it. Be sure to not be insulting and then besides telling her what is wrong, give her ideas on what she needs to make things better and that's about all you can do.

Chimestry 5+
Dominate 5+
Presence 5+

You can and will do everythign I tell you, and it will be believable, or its out to the cornfield with you

An elder Ventrue is going to be a swine to deal with, if he has any magic powers, or chimestry at level 5+, he can make reality for you, whatever he wants, no building work required

Saying that, I have been in some god awful Vampire games, it seemd everything in the game was bigger and harder than us, and we were just on the rollercoaster ride while the GM got all his ideas and plots out in the open, and eveyr vampire was 4th generation and could kill us wiht a flick of his wrists.

God that was dull, why bother running a game if the PC's have absolutely no control over what they do, who they interact with, and are incapable of defeating anyone. Might as well not bother turning up.

Tell the Storyteller straight "Nice game, but when do we get to do something other than just be a puppet, cos there no point playing otherwise"

Feegle Out

Man, I wouldn’t be able to play in this game because I would still be hooting with laughter- That whole set up really is corny beyond my capacity to count corn.

My advice; Have your characters go completely and utterly sideways. Certainly, no one could claim that you “weren’t playing in character” if you did, as any normal person in a situation that ridiculous would probably snap over time. Eventually, the party will wipe itself out, and you could find an ST who actually knows who to run a decent WoD game afterwards.
