Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

Uh, yeah - there was the same cloudy nebula like thing and there were a whole bunch of satellites - but none of them had red lights like the ones around At Attin. That was undoubtedly meant to be a clue that it wasn't the same place.
The hazard of watching the episode first thing after getting up, I missed a lot of detail in that opening scene.

For a 'destroyed' planet reduced to warring factions that don't concern themselves with other worlds, it's a little odd that the people on At Achrann still value Old Republic currency enough to sell a herd of cattle for a small portion of Wim's lunch money.
It implies that Old Republic Credits have a value in and of themselves, rather than being representative of GDP. Sort of like how an old Spanish Doubloon was made of gold and had intrinsic value.

But would Disney bother with that sort of thing, or just hand-wave it?

It's curious, the reaction of the pirates on the station indicated that they thought it was extremely valuable too, so how come it's just pocket change on At Attin itself?

Even if not intrinsically valuable in purely material terms, they might be well-known to be collectors' items, and valuable that way, but that'd make them much less liquid wealth, since they'd need to be sold to specific buyers.

Since it seems people may have missed it, Jod specifically said Republic Credits, not Old Republic, so I still don't think any of the show has to do with with the time of the Old Republic.

In the in-universe context, the old Republic is simply the Republic that existed in the prequel trilogy, as opposed to the New Republic of the show's current era. I think most people are using the term in that sense, not intending to refer to the out-of-universe nomenclature of the various Republic eras.

Try and tell that to all the people who say Old Republic and High Republic are used in-universe and say they are different because of Wookieepedia and other sites.

Well, the most valuable commodities I know of in the Star Wars universe are glitterstim spice and hyperdrive fuel. I don’t think you can snort credit, but maybe you can throw it in an engine? That wouldn’t explain why all the adults appear to be working admin though.

Value is due to scarcity. There are lots on At Atin, which is why it’s a treasure planet.

I wonder whether the schools on At Attin have turbolaser batteries on their roofs.
I would presume so, since it seems to be built to the same plan, and looks like an original feature. It might even become a plot point in the last episode.

This. It looked like there was a barrier, but depowered. The satellites where there but not lit red, and there was a trace of greenish nebulousity.

Maybe SM33’s captain (I’ll give him the codename Flint for now) trashed it? I suspect that having hidden At Atin he decided to stay there, and is this mysterious supervisor. His ship might have been buried rather than crashed.

Despite the Star Wars tendency towards single biosphere planets it's still worth reminding that we saw just one metropolitan area, and a single school. There could be sentients or droids, elsewhere, performing activities like farming and mining. The former would almost certainly be happening if the planet is truly isolated, and self sufficient.
