Swift spell as Standard Action?

Just to get it right for me...

Casting a spell with casting time "1 swift action" AND a spell with a casting time of "1 standard action" is possible per raw.

But casting two quickened spells as swift actions is not ( one as swift action, one swapping a standart action for it)?

In this case, at my table, I would allow it, since swapping a standart action for an action taking minor time (a swift action) is fine with me. The player would have to cast it as quickened spell, so casting it at a higher spell slot.

Just my 2 cent.

But why a Standard Action? I mean, if your rationale is "swapping a standart action for an action taking minor time" you might as well make it a Move Action. That also takes more time than a swift action. Why is swapping a Standard for a Swift okay, but not a Move for a Swift???

Because otherwise a Standard Action would stil remaining for a third sepll, and THAT would not be okay.

If by "falls apart" you mean "the players have more fun" - I agree.

Nope. If we are going for reason, then we should be able to do a swift spell, a swift spell as a move action (just slowed a little) and still have a standard action to do whatever. But as long as we are getting rid of the rules that don't stand up to reason, the SRD is going to be really short. It is a fantasy RPG not something built on reason.

Fun can be had either way.

When standard spells can be cast as move actions, then Ill be the first to jump on to that line of reasoning as well.

And sure its a fantasy RPG, but it certainly IS built on reason.

Nah... reason says you can do a spell as Swift action and maybe then also take the place of your Standard Action spell. Rules say no, though. Too bad.

Reason also says a Swift Action takes no longer than pulling out an arrow during a full attack or dropping your sword or the myriad of other Free Actions that exist. Swift Actions take almost no time at all. Reason tells me that if I can drop two weapons and draw two more with Quickdraw and still take a Full Attack, there's absolutely no way a Swift spell can take the place of a Standard Action.
