OOC: Charm person? Immune :)
Hold person? Immune :)
Power word? Trouble :(

OOC: Sorry gang, that's what I get for working from my old tired memory instead of dragging out my monster books. Anyway, it is hold person, mass not hold monster as I foolishly assumed. So those of you who are not persons, i.e. outsiders, Kobolds and the like are immune.

OOC: not sure if kobolds are immune, they are humanoid, but I'm not complaining. And I'm glad it is 'only' 7th level spell :)

Vakeva makes his way outside with the others. As the group clears the building he feels the wash of arcane power flow over him, bidding his muscles to freeze, but he shrugs off the suggestion with some little difficulty. His sharp eyes catch sight of the source of the spell, but his worry for the rest of the group slows his reaction.

The fell demonic magic freezes Fatoon and Thorn though they can still see and hear. Vir shakes off the effect and makes use of a potion. Adrian looks around and his eyes widen at the sight of the gargoyles. He turns to shout the warning...and the flicker of power turns his attention upwards and his eyes go wider still. He manages to shout "Demons!" Vakeva makes his way outside with the others. As the group clears the building he feels the wash of arcane power flow over him, bidding his muscles to freeze, but he shrugs off the suggestion with some little difficulty. His sharp eyes catch sight of the source of the spell, but his worry for the rest of the group slows his reaction. The two gargoyles on the roof are given a shove by the demon and swoop to the attack. The one on the statue also joins the fray. One goes for each of the still mobile companions. They find the Kobold and Dwarf are able to resist their granite hard claws, but Adrian does get gashed (6 points of damage).

OOC: All those who made their save may act for round one if they have not already done so. Note the demon on the roof has cover.

Adrian stands in front of the gargoyle, bleeding slightly and grimaces. Planting the spear in the ground, firmly holding it in one hand he strikes strange rod of golden-like metal onto the flagpole. It rings, the sound clear and true and the bard immediately catches the tone. But instead of uplifting hymn, dark melody brings anger to the yard. The song holds power of demon wards in it and companions feel their own power responding in turn. In moments, the song curses demon spawn, those serving the demons and humans working with demons to create demon-spawn. The song manifests as burning fires, cleansing evil wherever it can be found.

[sblock=Actions]
Short version: all enemies demoralized, gargoyles burned for some fire damage and PCs get +4 to hit and damage and +3 to saves

Move: strike living steel rod and start Inspire courage as move action using mythic surge power - 2/5 remaining
Eveyone gains +3 all saves, +4 to hit and damage

Standard: Cast Blistering invective
Concentration check: 1D20+10 = [14]+10 = 24 if needed

Demoralize: G Adrian; G Vakeva; G Vir; Demon: 1D20+13 = [4]+13 = 17
1D20+13 = [7]+13 = 20
1D20+13 = [19]+13 = 32
1D20+13 = [14]+13 = 27

Demoralize target: 10 + the target’s Hit Dice + the target’s Wisdom modifier (14 for gargoyles and 20-25 for the demon assuming 18-20 base + WIS)
Demoralized (all?) take fire damage and need to make Ref DC 16 or catch fire:
Fire damage: G Adrian; G Vakeva; G Vir; Demon: 1D10 = [10] = 10
1D10 = [2] = 2
1D10 = [7] = 7
1D10 = [5] = 5
- demon is probably resistant, but demoralize still works

A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks

OOC:
Maidhc O Casain, that means you, Vir went before the monsters and Shayuri/Thorn and Lou/Fatoon are held

Also, Mowgli was easier to mention :)

OOC: Sorry - I'm at the beach with family and haven't been spending much time in front of the screen.

The canny old Dwarf quickly spots the real threat behind the attack - or at least he hopes the tricky demons don't have another ally yet hidden and waiting to spring. Once more he puts his bow to work, doing his best to pick at the bits of demon that poke out from behind it's cover.

The power Adrian unleashed leaves all the foes shaken. The Gargoyle are burned and the one facing him continue to burn. The flames seem to have no effect on the Demon.

The canny old Dwarf quickly spots the real threat behind the attack - or at least he hopes the tricky demons don't have another ally yet hidden and waiting to spring. Once more he puts his bow to work, doing his best to pick at the bits of demon that poke out from behind it's cover. The arrow fly true. But there is something strange about the demon's hide, something more than the normal resistance to possessed by most demons that 'Keva can overcome. The arrows hit and hurt him, but perhaps not as badly as would normally be expected. Still his wounds are terrible. He extends a finger at the dwarf and a ray of black necromantic energy lashes out to strike the Dwarf squarely. The terrible power leaves the old dwarf feeling like a raw recruit. (take four temporary negative levels). The demon sidesteps out of sight behind the eaves and statuary on the roof (total cover). The gargoyles, though shaken and in one case on fire, attack in a vicious whirling storm of claws, teeth and horns. Despite the inferiority of the attacks they are only marginally successful. Vir is struck by a bite and a gore attack (8 hp damage) while the Gargoyle facing the dwarf manages one lucky or canny claw attack that slips past the s dwarf's defenses (5 hp damage) The flaming Gargoyle fails to damage Adrian.

OOC: Vir, Adrian and 'Keva may act. Thorn and Fatoon may attempt another stave against the hold magic in hopes of acting next round.
