Peladus provides himself with a degree of magical protection. Ngikhnit quests with his nose, angling forward cautiously a little way ahead.[sblock=Ngikhnit]The glinting points of light on the cobbles in the west of the Square turn out to be the fish scales of many seasons' catches, ground in too deeply to be removed.
With the two light bearers behind you, the middle hut casts a great dark shadow nearby extending right out to the drop off into the sea.[/sblock][sblock=Quozen][sblock=Really, just Quozen]It is as though the light shifts oddly, or your eyes refocus themselves. In clear well-lit space between two of the huts, where a moment ago there was nothing but cobblestones, shadows suddenly writhe and twist together, creating a form from nothing.
It is black, or it hints at a yellow so dark as to be black. Its flesh, if that is what it is, is glossy and leathery at the same time. The whole is less tall than a man or an elf, but it keeps no clear shape. One instant, it tries to draw itself up into a semblance of a humanoid figure, the next it is a hunched domed shape, then little more than a fungoid spreading mass. Appendages reach forward, rippling at their edges as they contact the stones, and pull the bulk of its body forward to collapse over them again. But at all times, no matter what its shape, two questing tentacles twitch spasmodically in the air above the creature.
All this happens in seconds. It moves utterly silently toward Ngikhnit, coming to within ten feet of the half-ogre, who seems to be entirely unaware.
OOG: surprise round, of a sort. Quozen is up.[/sblock][/sblock][sblock=Maps][sblock=Midias,Peladus,Pendrake]
