T1: A Visit to Spelding Square [Completed]

Midias calls on Hyrag's favour, raising everyone's spirits. Ngikhnit strains his senses, but can neither hear nor see Quozen's creature. Pendrake crosses the Square to join them, bringing with him brighter light.[sblock=Ngikhnit, Quozen]Though otherwise occupied, you still notice in passing some wheeled barrows in the north-eastern part of the Square. Someone has left various tools lying in the nearer.[sblock=Quozen]The hut is open to the west, but you see only a pair of low three-legged stools.[/sblock][/sblock]Peladus...[sblock=Maps]Peladus has essentially Midias' view right now, but might move on his action; if so, I'll update for him.[sblock=Midias,Peladus]

ooc: Please hit quote on my post to see my ooc sblock, if not able to open it otherwise.

OOC: I'm sure Peladus has some way of stowing his quarterstaff when he wields his crossbow but I'm coming down with the flu and I can't think what it would be. At any rate, P will stow his quarterstaff and load his crossbow. I guess that'll take care of his actions for this round.

OOG: It's always a move action to stow a weapon. It's a move action to draw another, absent Quick Draw, but after BAB +0 this can be done as part of actual movement. It's yet another move action to load a crossbow. I'd like to find out whether Peladus is standing in place, or drawing his crossbow while moving. If he moves, a route description would be useful.

Hold off on posting further actions for now, please. I'll just get confused.

OOG: Thanks. Oh, and thanks too to orsal for pointing out that total defense gives a dodge bonus. I think I would have missed that. Onward: I'll use spoiler tags, and edit the posts back into shape when it's all fixed up again. Edit: sblocks are working again!

Peladus thrusts his staff through the loops on his pack, then raises his crossbow, moving closer to Midias.[sblock=Midias]You become aware of a soft sucking, slithering sound, somewhere to the west, and not far away at all.[/sblock][sblock=Ngikhnit]Suddenly the light shifts oddly, or you somehow tilt your head just right. In open space, far from anything to hide behind, you see the shadows writhe and twist together, creating a form where a moment ago, there was nothing at all.

It is black, or perhaps a yellow so dark you would call it black. Its flesh, if that is what it is, is wet and leathery. It is unimpressive in size, no bigger than a human, and closer to the ground, but it keeps to no single form. One instant, it bears a resemblance to a humanoid figure, the next it collapses on itself into a hunched shape, then it spreads out as little more than a fungoid mass. Thick appendages reach forward, rippling at their edges as they contact the stones, and pull the bulk of its body forward. But at all times, no matter what its shape, two questing tentacles twitch spasmodically in the air above the creature.

More important than this immediate impression is that it is writhing directly towards Midias and Peladus, no more than ten feet to their west.[/sblock][sblock=Pendrake] For a moment, you think you see... no, your eyes are playing tricks on you.[/sblock][sblock=Quozen]Again your vision clears, or you re-learn the trick of seeing the creature. Now, it is crawling directly towards Midias and Peladus, no more than ten feet from them.[/sblock][sblock=Maps]Midias,Peladus,Pendrake - as before, except that Peladus is now immediately to Midias' south.[sblock=Ngikhnit]

ooc: Can please someone answer Midias question? Just generally, if the thing looks undead. Remember, you can answer out of your turn. I don't want to waste my 1/day domain power. Thanks.

Pendrake blinks at what he though he saw, even thrusts blindly at the spon and grunts wordlessy.

"sorry Midias, nicht zee anyting right now. "

Pendrake the looks about the ground to find footprints and will try and thrust his sword in that spot. Otherwise he will start to blindly poke about where his friends are not.

"Watch out! It's right in front of you!"

Ngikhnit's wild nature becomes apparent as he lunges at the... well, he's not sure just what he's lunging at. But even if you can't make out his target, the fervor with which he charges at it, swinging his flail, is something to behold.

Rage, charge, 4 squares east and 2 squares south, then attack the square to the southeast. Attack is +8, damage 2d6+7, AC is 9 for this round, 5 vs. touch attacks.

Attack 17, damage 10 (if a hit). Ignore the second attack; I had forgotten what invisiblecastle means by "number of rolls".

Midias

Midias releases his god's power through the holy symbol.

[sblock=OOC]

Turn undead (not greater) I think it's worth a try.
Turn Undead (1d20+3=11, 2d6+4=14)
affects only up to three hit dice undead ...
