T1: A Visit to Spelding Square [Completed]

Midias juggles his morning star and holy symbol, and channels the power of Hyrag.[sblock=Midias, Peladus, Pendrake]Ngikhnit charges across the Square, and swings two-handed with his flail - which stops short in mid-air. And then, you do see something. Tiny gobbets of black flesh spatter onto the cobbles from around the head of the flail. The largest shreds briefly crawl about, then shrivel up like slugs caught in the sun.[/sblock][sblock=Ngikhnit, Quozen]The creature ignores Midias' efforts completely.

Ngikhnit charges the creature, and swings his flail two-handed, making solid contact. It's obvious that a normal creature would have been hurt more severely by such a blow. Tiny black gobbets splatter from its shapeless body. The largest of the dislodged pieces briefly crawl about, then shrivel up like slugs caught in the sun.

OOG: 5 damage to the Unknown Thing[/sblock][sblock=Maps][sblock=Midias, Peladus]

[/sblock][/sblock][sblock=OOG]Scott, given Ngikhnit's success, you will, I think, want to restate your actions, which occur after his in initiative order.

Midias, 18/18
Ngikhnit, 15+2/15, 1 nonlethal, raging (8 rounds remaining)
Pendrake, 50/50, sunrod <-- you're up
Peladus, 11/11, light spell on staff
Quozen, 20/20
Unknown Thing

Bless, 19 rounds remaining: +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saves vs fear[/sblock]

"We're not even sure we know what it wants!" Quozen protests.

He looks around. "Shadows, shadows, everywhere shadows..."

He closes with the half-giant, but pauses, carefully timing his strike.

[sblock=ooc]
Move to one square south of Ngikhnit.
[/sblock]

Peladus frowns as he realizes that the creature, whatever it is, seems to be invisible. He loads his crossbow and waits, ready to fire as soon as it's clear where their foe is.

[sblock=pendrake's actions if possible at his turn]
With the sunrod held high and his sword poking empty air, Pendrake looks to Quozen with a grinning 'oops' expresion. he the moves to where the giant human has just brought his flai down upon.

He hustls SE for 30 feet (4 squares) and pokes blindly where the bits of flesh fell.

"Ngikhnit, you say it is here?"[/sblock]

Pendrake hustles back the way he has just come, and pokes at the shrivelling shreds. Peladus loads a crossbow bolt and readies to loose. Quozen closes, but holds off from attacking.[sblock=Ngikhnit, Quozen]The strange creature writhes in response to being struck. A black bulge rises from its surface on a thick stalk, and opens into a tight-stretched glutinous bubble.[/sblock]An unnatural voice sounds in the night from between the companions. "Shshddzzz, shshddzzzz," it buzzes, in mimicry or mockery of Quozen's utterance.[sblock=Ngikhnit, Quozen]The thing slithers away north-east, and once again, it simply slips away from view as though light refuses to illuminate it.

OOG: no AoO as it moves off, which I suppose tells you where it is.[/sblock]And then, all around, mist rises in a great spreading cloud, blocking all sight beyond arm's reach. It reeks. It smells of all things rotten.[sblock=Everyone][sblock=Midias]The smell is bearable, though if you have to breathe it for longer, it may not remain so. But beside you, you see Peladus doubled up with retching.[/sblock][sblock=Ngikhnit]The smell is bearable, though if you have to breathe it for longer, it may not remain so. Beside you, Quozen and Pendrake seem to be holding firm too. But you hear retching sounds to the east.[/sblock][sblock=Peladus]The smell is unbearably nauseating. Even so, beside you, you make out Midias standing firm, for now.

OOG: natural 1 on Fort save against only DC 9, I'm afraid. Peladus is nauseated for an unfortunate 1d4+1=5 rounds even after he gets out of the fog. Well, um, that lets you concentrate on getting over the 'flu, I guess?[/sblock][sblock=Pendrake]To your south-west, the mist grows thin, and through it, you can still see the Square. In other directions, your sight is limited. For now, the smell is bearable, though if were to breathe it for longer it might not remain so. Beside you, Quozen and Ngikhnit seem to be holding firm too. But you hear retching sounds to the east.[/sblock][sblock=Quozen]The smell is bearable, though if you have to breathe it for longer, it may not remain so. I've made Fort saves, which you passed unless you just read that you didn't! New Fort saves are needed (taking effect on the UT's initiative count) if you remain in the cloud next turn. Vision is reduced to 5 feet within the fog. Anyone who becomes nauseated remains so while in the cloud and for 1d4+1 rounds after leaving it, and can take only a single move action per round.[/sblock][sblock=Maps][sblock=Midias]

[/sblock]OOG: yes, these maps are stupid.[/sblock][sblock=OOG]You know, I think it's possible I might have overdone the sblocks and broken my own brain.

Since the situation has become clouded (ho ho), could you guys post in strict initiative order this round, other than speech, and let me update between each? It's not unlikely that what one person does will alter the situation for those following.

Midias, 18/18 <--- you're up
Ngikhnit, 15+2/15, 1 nonlethal, raging (7 rounds remaining)
Pendrake, 50/50, sunrod
Peladus, 11/11, light spell on staff
Quozen, 20/20
Unknown Thing

Midias

Not able to turn or even see the thing, Midias grabs Peladus' shoulder. "Easy man, let's try to get out of the smell." Then tries to move with him out of the cloud.

[sblock=OOC]

If Peladus doesn't react, Midias will cast light on his shield and moves to the right alone.

OOG: Peladus, I assume, rather than Pendrake. I'm not completely sure how to interpret this. Is Midias effectively delaying until after Peladus' initiative count to see whether he moves? If so, it's on to Ngikhnit.

ooc: Sorry. messed up the names. I corrected above. I hoped for an out of turn spoken answer from Peladus. If he doesn't answer, I delay until his turn.

OOG: strictly by RAW, he can't speak! Speaking is a free action, and "the only action [a nauseated] character can take is a single move action per turn." Perhaps he can modulate his blurking sounds.
