I love this idea! The only problem is the adventure is taking place on a moon, so unless the DM will allow a container to block line of effect, there is no way to get the crystals off the moon. The only way off is via magic.

Oh, that's the best part.

You tell the mercs they can have all of the crystals they want. Let THEM worry about how to get them home....

With a Staff of the Magi he could Plane Shift twice to get the job done - once to a relatively "safe" plane, once back to the Prime Material - and then he's only 1d100 miles from where he wanted to be, crystal in box (not in hand - may need to put Overland Flight up really quick....)

If spells from your Staff of the Magi are unaffected by the AMF stones, try using dispel magic to render one of the nonmagical for 1d4 rounds. Then, teleport it off the moon. :]

If putting the gems in a sack will block their line of effect...

...just pull a huge sack over yourself and you can use magic within!

So. You take your bag of holding into an anti-magic field.

Magic still works inside the bag? Regardless, it probably doesn't open onto a non-dimensional space, because the bag itself is in the anti-magic field (even if the inside isn't). Still: you put something into the suppressed Bag of Holding. The you carry it out of the field. Where's the item?

I'd say you can't open the bag of holding in the anti-magic field. IIRC, there was an FAQ entry with a similar ruling, but I could be wrong.

What about teleporting out finding some MASSIVE moon rocks, miniturising them (shrink item) down to about the size of a peble, teleporting back and throwing them at the kobolds. :]
Because of AMF they will resize and sqaush all. :]

LOL

Yeah, as if that would work with Mr I-like-to-skrew-the-mage DM. :p

Bye

Not all characters are going to be 100% effective all the time. Face it, at level 14 AMF spell isn't exactly a rare thing to encounter. Even Fighters eventually run into their fair share of damage reducing, weapon disarming/sundering, high AC encounters.
