Taking a spell you've already found in another Wizard's Spellbook

YOu can memorize spells I am pretty sure but you have to make a Spellcraft check DC is like 15+ spell level I think. If you fail the slot stays empty.

Sorry not much of a rules expert.

I'm afraid that you can only prepare a spell from another wizards spellbook if it's a spell that you have already copied into your own spellbook at some point in the past.

It does take a spellcraft check with a DC 15+ spell level

Yes, you can indeed. It requires a Spellcraft check with a DC of 15 + spell level (IIRC). Check the Spellcraft description. With new rules from Magic of Faerun, you can master the spellbook (thus allowing you to prepare spells from those books as though they were your own without the spellcraft ckecks) by spending something like a week per spell in the book (I think) and making a Spellcraft check of DC 20 (or 25) + 1/spell in the book.

I've done this. The spellcraft check to master a spellbook is DC 25+the highest level in the book, and it takes 10 days, plus 1 day per level in spellbook.

It has no provision for mastering less than the entire spellbook.
