Also, the talent tree prereqs could make creating high level NPCs a bit of a pain.

Maybe NPCs are created using special rules, unless the DM explicitly wants to build one in the same way as a PC.

Really? I just bought Saga, and besides getting used to that whole only 1 attack per round thing, I really like the rules.

I'm fairly certain that chris perkins mentioned talent trees as in 4e in one of the podcast/interview things. I think it was a gamer zero interview.
