Diplomatically put, Ilvellios thought to himself, as he prepared to move in between Duran and Errol. He said nothing but kept an eye on the wolves as they fled.
I don't think there is anything RAW that says it doesn't, I just don't usually bother. Since the rules no longer allow for subdual damage, I'm happy for you to revive fallen enemies - or in this case fallen beasts.
Errol narrowed his eyes at the mad druid. “I have compassion on poor shepherds who nearly lost their flock,” he said, retrieving one of his bolts from the carcass of the wolf. The other, unfortunately, had snapped. “Two less wolves to harass good country folk.”
Errol shook his head as JV raised the dead wolf. “Waste of a spell. We could have had wolf steaks and the coat would be worth something to those farmers. Probably a bounty, too.”
"Let's ask the farmers if they know somewhere comfortable to rest."
Seeing that the tension in the party was being eased, Ilvellios started walking towards the shepherds, "Well met! I hope the wolves did not cause you any permanant trouble, other than frightening the sheep."
"I had things under control next time it won't be the sheep and stones won't dissuade them from there meals, nothing is more dangerous that a starving animal with nothing to lose."
