[Tavern Thread] The Dunn Wright Inn

NPCs - Grog (Half-orc) & Trixie (Human)

Grog grunts and pockets the gold, planning to put his own silver in the till. The half-orc bartender just smiles to himself and pulls out a large jug bottle from underneath the counter that is crudely labeled 'Gud Stuf', but also has the letters 'XXX' more officially labeled on it as well.

Pulling out the stopper, he pours two mugs and puts them on the bar counter with a grin, motioning for a barmaid to deliver them, "Tell da nuggets ta drink up."

A buxom barmaid with a pigtail to comes over, collects the drinks and sets the two mugs on the table for Le Jubb and Muzdum. She says, "My name is Trixie and here is your drinks. Careful now."

"By the way the kitchen's open if you are interested. You two look like you can use the Adventurer's Special, a hearty meal that is sure to fill your stomach and make you feel strong and able to tackle the toughest of monsters."

GM: After finishing a mug of the 'gud stuf', make a Fort Save. ;)

The Sword and the Fallen Angel - Recruitment

Jael Kedric returns the greeting, " I am Father Jael Kedric of the church of Helerion. These two... umm, friends of yours?... were you helping me find some experienced and daring types of heroes. There doesn't appear to be enough of them around at the moment."

The priest gives Heinrich an appraising look, but doesn't really know much what to look for. "You don't appear to be very well armored. This promises to be a difficult challenge as I was just saying to these two here."

GM: If you are requesting to join Scott, please read the rules in the opening post of the IC thread.

I understand all but this statement:
"If a character levels up ... snip .... Prepared casters may prepare spells in these slots as if they had left the slots blank for the day, if they are able to do so."

Do you know of a way that wizards can do that, without the requisite sleep? Is there a rule that allows a wizard to cast through his bonded object to use up those slots? If so I would very much like to know of this rule!

as for a picture, I saw GE had posted a wizard with a torch staff that should do perfectly

[sblock=Scott]Actually, I just copied that from Aldern Foxglove's rules to be consistent with his. Normally I don't let the spell casters use any of their new spells until after they have rested.

But as I understand it, you can use the bonded object to cast one of your new spells if that power hasn't been spent for the day. Otherwise, I think you need to rest.

But in this case, Heinrich is not going to level up during the adventure. Gaining maximum possible experience (by only having 4 adventurers, which I don't recommend) would not push your character over 3300XP until after receiving the time in game awards upon completion. But for those that do gain a level, there is an intermission that will allow for resting and recuperation.[/sblock]

on an academic basis, I ask this next question.

If the character levels and gets new spells in their book, but has not cast their bonded object spell, they can cast one of the two new ones, right?

Le Jubb - Tiefling Alchemist to Trixie and then Blackrock

The tiefling receives his ale "Thanks Trixie" and takes a sip "Woah, I don't know about overcoming monsters, but I will take one of those meals to help me overcome the ale. Bring the dwarf one too."

Sitting back down with the dwarf "It appears the wizard had other business to attend to; meaning he did not even acknowledge my presence. This is why I quit my formal arcane training. All snobby wizards think they walk on clouds, but to this day, I have only seen that once.

No matter, Cheers new Friend. By the way, I don't yet know your name...is it simply blackrock?"

The tiefling stands from the table and goes to address the wizard who just finished his tricks.

"Excuse me, Heinrich, i believe it is, correct? I noticed your tricks; very nice. If I may impose... I am Le Jubb, and I too am somewhat practiced in the arcane. I am sure you could agree with me that one can never know too many tricks. Unfortunately my studies have not afforded me everything that I wish to master. Perhaps you could assist me in this manner... You no doubt carry a spellbook with you; I wish to peruse it and perhaps copy some of its writings into my own formula book. You would be doing me an extraordinary favor and I would gladly pay you for this service.

I wish I could offer you some knowledger in return, but I have never had a wizard been able to learn anything from my twisted formula; can you help me in this, will coin suffice?"

by the time you added that statement, I was well out the door and headed to work. I also need to let you know that an edit does not show up as a new post, so in effect, I did not ever see that part of your post.[/sblock]

I think so. At least that's what I meant earlier. :) Although it would be nice if [MENTION=97308]Aldern Foxglove[/MENTION] chimed in on this. Since this will be only my second PF campaign in the DM chair (all my experience is in 3.5ed), we are frequently bouncing interpretations of rules off each other. And I copied that part of my rules from him.

[sblock=Perrinmiller] I understand that you are in Japan, and the time defference can cause a bit of a loop, so, I am flexable to your schedual. On an aside, Have you heard any thing on the day to day xp award system? I heard some rumors of such.[/sblock]
