TCotM: Tenebrynn's Idylls

"We discovered that it was not able to maintain its effect indefinitely because all of you reappeared--it must have been a last ditch defense mechanism that it could maintain for a short time until things calmed down. Then, after defeating Sin, we discovered that the Crux was not really as dangerous as we thought, especially compared to what would happen if it was destroyed, so we let it be. It still occasionally blinks into existence, but it and the tower mostly stay phased out and don't bother anyone."

"The Lichwyrm...is a long story," Rayne states simply, "If we had realised the warning signs earlier, it might have been different, but we were a step too late to prevent his resurrection."

"But Tenebrynn destroyed the Lichwyrm--he's the greatest!" Kiara pronounces.

*Laynie raises and eyebrow and chuckles.*

"Okay, it's true, I'm biased. A lot of people helped, and 'The Paragon of Flame' had more damaging spells, but Tenebrynn destroyed the phylactery once and for all, and to me, that's what counts. Plus, I wouldn't mind if he hadn't been the one to do it--Tenebrynn is my husband, and he will always be my hero."

"So, we all reappeared at the same time. If it weren't for the fact that Elektra, and presumably Guile, also reappeared then, this would have fit the bill. And since apparently noone has mentioned that - what became of Guile?
Anyway, back then, the Tower did appear to rip apart the temporal and planar fabric of the world, even Sin seemed to agree with that, and Tenebrynn was overwhelmed by the raw magic surrounding the Tower when he detected magic. Inside, we discovered an area of wild magic and a semi-astral environment. That seemed bad enough, but if we really figured that destroying the Crux would be worse - what would have happened if we did destroy it?
The lichwyrm... that seems another interesting lead if it is the biggest event in the years we have lost. Or an enemy that would have an interest in all four of us... but if that enemy was powerful enough to afflict us all at the same time....
"

"Desroying the Crux might destroy not just the world, but all worlds, and the entire multiverse along with them. Or it might not. But that seemed like a bad idea, and it hasn't been behaving badly since then anyway--the key is that it is out of phase most of the time, and it doesn't do any damage then. I put up some wards around the general area that help contain any effect when it is in phase."

"The Lichwyrm is dead and completely destroyed. He can't do anything now. As to Guile, she's still there in the tower whenever it returns to synch. Of course, no one who tried has succeeded at helping her restore her mind. She seemed lucid for just a moment, though, when she returned."

"I'm not suggesting that the lichwyrm is doing anything - I'm just considering the potential that what happened to us might have some roots in these events. But really, it seems likely that the Crux is what we need to pay the most attention to for now. After all, it is almost like someone took a copy of our minds back then, and replaced our current minds with those copies." Ashna pauses for a bit.
"Perhaps we need to visit the tower if it is currently phased in. If it is a memory loss, the revisiting may help overcome it. If it is an attack, the attacker may be there..." she watches the reactions of everyone as she suggests that.

[sblock=Rystil]Sense Motive time for Ashna - does Ashna get the impression that the people who retained their memories (or whatever else happened) are hiding something. Specifically, hiding something about Ashna?[/sblock]

"The Paragon of Flame, eh? That you Ashnar? I'm still fuzzy on how Sin was defeated. I mean I know you said that after the delayed blast fireballs were depleted she was not as prepared to fight against Rayne, but even the combined ability of all of us was practically useless against her. How were you able to defeat her alone?"

"As an elven Wizard, you should know above all that once the spells are gone, the endurance we have is not stellar," Rayne laughs, "And remember, I'm an expert at Evocation. Give me an opening and I'll blast you to cinders."

[SBLOCK=Ashnar](OOC: Oops, that's a "I posted when you did and thus missed your post" moment )

Ashna does not think that they are intentionally hiding anything about her, at least that she can tell.[/SBLOCK]

"And what happen to the other aspects? Where are they now? Pride? Joy? Hope? Sin is dead, but what happen to Eleyna, the mother of Laynie, the caring mother?" asks Rinaldo
