Teleo-vision: Deadwood

Hello,

I've been hearing very good things about the HBO series Deadwood, but do not have access to HBO myself, and my friendly neighborhood video store does not carry the DVDs. I'm a big fan of westerns (both classic, modern, and certain "unconventional" westerns such as Dead Man, which rocks) and, for those who have seen the program, I was wondering if:

1) it's good? (pretty wide open question, I know)
2) what seasons are available on DVD?
3) do the DVDs have all sorts of extra goodies like interviews, historical overviews, making of, etc.

Thanks!

Warrior Poet

Edit: to put this in a game context, I'm always on the lookout for inspirational sources for games, and one of the ones I'm always plotting/planning is a wild and/or weird west campaign.

It's very good. But be warned that there is plenty of violence, tons of swearing, and overall, it can come across as very brutal to some people. Some of main characters are whores, sadistic saloon owners, drug addicts, and some pigs with very odd tastes in food.

If you're looking for a comfortable Western, this isn't it. But if you want to see a vision of the old West that is a bit more realistic, then you can't go wrong.

1) Very very very good show. It actually got me interested in westerns.

2) Season 1 is the only one on DVD. Season 2 is over, I have no idea when season 2 is coming out on DVD

3) Yes there was whole other DVD with history stuff and other things like that.

If you can afford it buy it, I will as soon my money sitiation stablizes.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments and recommendations!

Rarely. Though it's fun to throw Silverado on the DVD now and then. :)

That's precisely what I've been looking for.
