Tell me about Blue Rose

They're still a wonderful company and I will look carefully at anything they produce, but honestly, looking at Apple Pie, I almost have to wonder if they were even trying to make good quiche at all...

LOL , but I'd prefer a potpie. :D

Decent enough satire :) Still, if the apple pie has the best crust for quiche, why not apply it to quiche. Not everyone likes apple pie (damn commies!), and if there's a market for their existing line in the quiche field, cater to them.

NO GODAMMIT! MY CRUST SI TEH 4 APPUL PI3 ONLEE! <-- :rather: silly. Hell, sell the crust for the same price as the apple pie, just without the apples.

So what... I have to buy the whole Apple Pie, scoop out the sugery-spicy apple filling, create my own cheesy-eggy quiche filling, and re-heat the whole goddamn thing, hoping all the while that I don't burn that oh so perfectly delicious pre-baked crust?

Blecch. More trouble than it's worth.

Mongoose has already got several varieties of fillingless crust available... Traditional pie crust, graham cracker crust, even chocolate cookie crumb crust... And they are all individual serving sizes, so you can carry them around in your pocket.

I guess I don't understand the backhanded complaints of 'too sweet' or 'cute'. It's no sweeter or more precious than any other fantasy worlds I've seen. The Silver Marches and Silverymoon in FR has almost exactly this same feel and tone, yet I can't remember ever seeing one single complaint about that feel or tone. Howver, I don't read a lot about FR settings so I might easily have missed it. Anyone know?

It's called Romantic Fantasy and it has more controvery that is accepted like homosexuality, orgies, and people that are tolerant towards each other. THose have been the biggest complaints I've seen.

Create what? Nonono. Just don't use the chapter on Aldis. The rest is bueno. Of course, if you don't think so, don't spend the $16 on it and everyone's happy :)

EDIT: And of course, if you like Romantic Fantasy I think the Blue Rose setting probably will work out great for you. In that case, then use the chapter on Aldis :)

Nothing backhanded about it. I't not my thing.

Haven't read the supplement. Doesn't sound like it would be my thing.

Yeah, I need to edit that; you're the only person who has used that particular word, so it sounds like I made a jab specifically at you and your review. Didn't mean that; sorry.

You probably aren't meaning to, but this implies that those who don't like Blue Rose's setting don't like it because it's tolerant and such. This is, IMO, not entirely accurate; those things merely highlight the views of the setting, including the intolerance of those whose views depart from those of Aldis. No worse than almost every other setting out there, but more visible.

I should mention that I don't have BR. My info is gleaned from the boards and the previews on the GR site.
