Bruce Heard's setting of airships and awesome.

I've been poking around the blog, looking at maps, and falling in love. :-) I picked up the hardcover and maps (on the way).

I'm curious if anyone is playing with this setting currently? What system are you using?

Definitely 5e - personally it is reminiscent of 2e but brings some great innovations from the 3e and 4e. We are currently playing in Mystara (51 sessions in).

Outstanding! After I read through it I plan on drafting up a conversion document. I would love to pick your brain on it. I am feverishly prepping for Norwescon, but once that's behind me I am going to dig into Calidar.

My game is also in Mystara. If I do use Calidar, it will be as the home of the Alphatians. Finding the Calidar system and the remains of the Alphatian home world could be necessary to find something to use against Alphaks.

LOL! Unbelievable, I was thinking along similar lines :) Either their homeworld or another world they had colonised.

i went to 2 seminars by Bruce Heard at Gary Con VII. first was on World Building. It was a general seminar to help those in the audience work on their own campaign worlds. it was very good. very professional. and included elements of how to publish as well. it hinted at Calidar.

the second seminar was exclusively about Calidar. freebies were handed out at the end. of course, we all got them signed. :D a reading was done for flavor about a gnome and her companion. i won't spoil it for you.

but if you ever had an interest in his previous works you will be remiss if you don't back this project. it is outstanding. and fits right in with only a few tweaks to things you may already be using.
