Tennant to Quit as Dr Who

I thought Tennant brought a lot unlikable traits in his portrayal of the Doctor, especially during Season 4. Shall we begin with his holier than thou treatment of the new UNIT during the Sontaran two parter? I probably lost count of how many times I wanted to smack his arrogant arse there. Then there's the cold shoulder he gives to his 'daughter' Jenny. Fortunately Donna is there to point out his blatant hypocrisy.

But it's all good come Midnight, when the Doctor's smart mouth and hubris nearly prove to be his undoing. So by episode's end he neither elated nor relieved, but humbled. Never has the character deserved such a comeuppance.

Make no mistake, I enjoyed Tennant's stint as the Doctor, despite all this.

I agree with this completely. I'm kind of glad to see this Doctor go even if I feel sad for losing Tennant.

He says "I'm the Master, not the Doctor. I don't want to be the Doctor. If I ever come back, it will be as the Master".

OTOH, I consider this to be bad news. I really hated the new Master. :erm:

You'd still have to remove all of his good traits, double his arrogance, make him an incompetent coward, and dress him like Ronald McDonald to reach sixth Doctor level of annoying.

I read somewhere that Patrick Stewart was going to be a time lord. Do you think that he might be the doctor or just a part in an episode where there are other time lords ? Havent quite worked out yet if there are any other time lords now given that there wern't supposed to be any more and then there was the master n all.

The Master was established as not being on Galifray when it was destroyed and AFAIK not even involved in the war with the Daleks. I think he was in hiding at the time. But when you are dealing technology that's essentially magic and can do what ever the scriptwriter wants (that the SFX budget permits). Nobody and nothing is guaranteed to remain dead/gone forever.

The Master changed himself into a human. So the Doctor was the last Timelord until the Master was changed back. Other Timelords might have survived using a Chameleon Arch to change their biology to another species', or by hiding in another dimension.

He's going to be the Meddling Monk.
