That's the third best quote I've heard all day.

(Right after, "Let's call ourselves the Sembianese Liberation Army!") :)

If nothing else, the existence of this train of thought, from within Israel even, serves to illustrate that the "facts" of this case might not be as stubborn as Harry Truman's.

Not to hijack the thread, but "The Bible Unearthed" is one of the listed references, and some time is spent in the book examing archaeological as well as mythological evidence for the setting.

I bought Testament yesterday and it has two downsides: 1. it's expensive @£22 for a black and white softback and 2. it's printed in black on grey paper which makes it a bit hard to read.

Otherwise, it's a very well thought out book. It captures the spirit of the Bible stories without being munchkin. I highly recommend it.

It came out on Thursday at my two local FLGS. The first had sold out by Saturday afternoon and the second only had two left (one left now :D ). Good news travels fast.

I think it's very playable once you define Egyptians as drow elves. Otherwise, I just dunno; doesn't seem realistic enough.

From what i have seen of Teatment, it is well written, and even handed in its dealing of the era. No one group is presented as "the Good guys" or the "bad Guys". the religous pratices of all the groups are presented, and treated as equaly valid.

My only gripe is that it is not a pretty book. Thw black print on dark grey paper is hard to read. The artwork is not what I have come to expect from Green Ronin.

As a religous person , I can say that I don't see this book supporting or opposing any current religion that I know of. Scott Bennie as done a good job presenting the material in a way that can be utilized by anybody. If you are worried about this book being "religious" dont be. Its no more religous than Dieties and Demigods....and has a lot more useful stuff in it.

None of the countries in the book exist today.

Which is why I specifically said nations and religions, thanks. :p

The warning being that we're not going to discuss historical/archaeological proof for a Biblical account, nor are we going to discuss anything that even remotely touches on modern day cultures and their predecessors and who may have been good, bad or indifferent.

I just bought the book today for my wife. It's a very well done sourcebook. I look forward to using it.

Although I'm not sure exactly which nation gnomes should be natives of. Any suggestions?

Hmm, Gnomes always struck me as being placeable in any of the cleverer city state areas. Phoenicia, perhaps? One of the little cultures on the edge of Hittite Anatolia?

You could set them in what is know Yemen. Though I think the idea of a gnomish queen of Sheba is just on the verge of mind breaking.
