That Balor mini is gorgeous! What's your favourite?

The speed paint jobs on the big monsters certainly look better than the character figures. I like the fiendish T-Rex.

Its hard to get D&D minis around here and the only ones I ever bought were from the first series (forgot the name) about two years ago or so from Amazon Germany. But the quality was so horrible that I stopped thinking about buying more the moment I saw the first mini in that box.

So, my question would be if those shots are from real production minis or if they are just "advertising paint jobs" with a quality you will never see out of the box. The Chimera and the Fomorian look nice enough to spend some money for them, at least on the picture. But the stuff I got back then was just plain bad. Otherwise I'll have to stick with buying metal minis and painting them on my own :)

I'm in the "put him on ignore" camp too, but it doesn't do much good. Not that I care about anyones opinion about any D&D editions because I like something different from each of them and I don't really hate any of them. But good grief, his remarks every single day are not only unhumorous, they are also annoying and creepy. And if it was coming from anyone else that isn't a regular here, it would be concidered trolling. The fact that he probably does own all of the 3e stuff makes it even more creepy. I concider his posts to be the equivalent to spam & trolling because it's in every thread and the post is very rarely constructive for the OP. "Getting a rise out of others" is part of the definition of "trolling". Certainly people have brought this up to the mods before?

Sorry for being off-topic but I think his remark in this thread was totally uncalled for and I'm sick of reading his antagonizing remarks just to "get a rise out of people" every single day.

I think the Underdark figures are overall nicer looking than previous sets. The Death Slaad is just neat, and Iron Golem looks cool too, but even the kobold miner has some nice detail and looks.

Seriously though, a skeletal equiceph? What were they thinking!

The wolf and spider fig's were nicely done, but I'd rather have had more D&D oriented mini's, they're just too "normal" for my tastes.

The Beholder is still my favorite, even though the multiple pieces make it a little less nicely made than the Iron Golem.

Obviously, I am in the same boat. The paint jobs have improved some and several players at my table do buy them. Naturally, the advertised paint jobs are at the higher end of things, but not greatly so.

I love to paint minis, but I do not begrudge the plastics - the more folks playing miniatures the better! If you can paint minis to a decent level and enjoy doing it - there is no reason to buy the WOTC stuff.

Interesting, the beholder is one of my least liked of the bigger D&D monsters they have put out.

Having held one in hand, I can say that these look great! I want a dozen! :)
They look like they make passable stand ins for large humaniod's skeletons. Fleshed Equacephs themselves feel too 'furry' to me. Maybe they just remind me too much of the stuff i saw in the Book Of Vile Furries {Exaulted deeds]

the OP asked which of them(the WotC minis) was your (my) favorite. i said mind flayer.

how is saying that i have 4 WotC mind flayers set up for an encounter in my campaign getting a rise out of you?

were you planning on stopping in on one of the sessions? and i ruined the encounter for you. i've got over 1000 of these guys. heck, i just contacted JoeGKushner (a guy i don't get along with normally) and offered to sell him a couple of my extras. i sold JoeBlank 138 minis for his kids for Xmas.

i'm confused. does using them not give me the right to answer this thread?

edit: was it the maybe in my first post? there are a lot of them to consider. so judging them takes some effort. i said maybe cuz i had a couple i had to think about vs the mind flayer.

Don't feign ignorance. We all know what you were inferring when you wrote:

Sure, it's a fairly innocuous comment, but taken in context with the vast body of your niggling criticisms, it's obnoxious.

Not that diaglo needs any help defending himself, but, really, he has a right to criticize if he so chooses. If his posts continually annoy you, put him on your ignore list.

I think the minis are cool, but diaglo's entitled to think they're crap if he wants to...
