Well, let's do the breakdown...

This will all be assuming the Dryad is mobile.

Hit dice 2
Unbalanced ability scores +1
Spell-like abilities +1
Bonus feats +1

That's a total ECL of 5

hp: 7
AC: 12
Init: +6
Speed: 30
melee attack: +1
ranged attack: +3
F/R/W: 0/5/5
Racial feats: 2

Here's a 5th level sorcerer (Cha is highest, so..)

hp: 22
AC: 13
Init: +6
Speed: 30
melee attack: +2
ranged attack: +6
F/R/W: 3/4/6
Racial feats: 0

I definitely think the sorcerer has the upper hand here, which is why Dryad should probably be level adjustment +2, giving it an ECL of 4, just like the Dragon article.

Now for the ever-so lovely Nymph

Hit Dice 3
Unbalanced ability scores +1
Bonus feats +1
Spellcasting +1
Spell-like ability +1
Gaze +1
Unearthly beauty +2

Hm… I’m only getting +10, when I think the article had Nymph as +12. Of course, the whole “instant kill every 10 minutes” thing should be higher than +2, but a medusa’s gaze is only worth +1, and you’re basically dead, too.

Hrm…

hp: 10
AC: 11
Init: +1
Speed: 30
melee attack: +1
ranged attack: +2
F/R/W: 1/4/8
Racial feats: 2
Blinding and unearthly beauty
Casts Druid spells as 7th level caster

Now here’s a 10th level druid

hp: 58
AC: 21
Init: +2
Speed: 30
melee attack: +8/+3
ranged attack: +10
F/R/W: 8/5/10
Racial feats: 0
Wild Shape 4/day
Casts Druid spells as 10th level caster

Yeech! This one is really hard to judge, because in terms of pure combat power, Druid whomp ass on the Nymph. However, the Druid would likely be blind (unable to target, and be flat footed) or just plain dead by looking at Ms. Nymph. I honestly don’t know… Maybe this is why Sean Reynolds didn’t do her.. :D

Thanks. I calculated this as well, but a second opinion is always a good idea.
