The 2 Jacks, Alias and 24 finales - spoilers

24 was on an hour earlier, so I watched the first hour, then switched to Alias, since it was their series finale. I hadn't watched this season and most of last, so I figured I should finally hope to discover what the hell the Rimbaldi stuff was going to do.

For those who want to keep threads separate, please feel free to start a new thread. :)

Anyway, while flipping channels I saw the president on 24 get walked off the platform, but there were 20 minutes left, so what happened in those last minutes?

As for Alias, I'm kinda pissed there is no hope for a Jack Bristow spin off, he was really always my favorite character.

I kinda figured the Rimbaldi stuff would eventually lead to a clone, resurrection, etc, but this begs the question, how come Rimbaldi isn't alive? There was a season 1 or 2 episode where they kill this clock maker and grab a clue. Was that Rimbaldi, or just somebody who knew the secret? And if it was Rimbaldi, he must not have died, so was he ever seen in the series again?

Jack was released from Secret Service Custody after the President was taken into Custody by Federal Marshals.

He was then
kidnapped by the chinese and brutally beaten, the last we see him is in the bowles of a cargo ship heading towards china

A slow one might I add.

Yeah, just finished watching both today (gotta love DVR) and enjoyed both immensly. I gotta say the ending of 24 was not a big surpise as I wondered when they would show. The ending of Alias was typical, but I'm glad they spent the last few episodes making a clean sweep of loose "cast" members. Funny, but if they had made another season I suspect the French chick (Renee I think was her name), Tom, and Rachel would have been the replacement team for Sydney when Garner left the show.

I, too, am disappointed about poor Jack Bristow. He was my favorite character, too (with Sark a close second).

As for Rimbaldi, I don't believe that it's 'eternal' life - just really long lasting. The clock maker and the old guy in the prison were both quite old - and there's no evidence in the entire series that Rimbaldi is still alive - so I think that aging is just slowed down by a significant amount before one finally expires.

But in the end, I'm still confused. Why did Irena want to launch the missiles? What was Rimbaldi's real end-game? What did Sloane really want? What was the point?

Though it was a decent ending to Alias, and I wasn't wholly disappointed. Nice to see that all the characters were wrapped up in the final few episodes.

I haven't seen the last two season of 24, but am an avid Alias supporter, so I saw that.

The finale itself was not great, but considering the circumstances, I think they did a good job. A few great moments, like:
  • "That was very cool, like, Empire Strikes Back cool!"
  • Chase's death. I knew it was going to happen soon as he went into the tunnels looking for the bomb, but that scene was very good.
  • When Jack and Sloane died the first time, I was like: "Really? That's it?" but the second time was grand: "You beat death, Arvin, but you never beat me."

Well, J.J. Abrahms said that "all" the answers were there, but not neccaserily spelled out. Of course, that's an easy thing to say if you didn't actually answer anything: "Why didn't you answer the questions?" "I, uh, did. Look harder."

Still, let's review, my interpitation:
  • Irena fancied herself to be the Chosen One. Bring down the greatest power (Washington and London) and claim the spoils.
  • Sidney *was* the Chosen One. She brought down the greatest power: The Global Prophet 5 / The Trust / The Alliance / The Convenant Conspiracy.
  • We've had numerous old musky Rambaldi wise men. All delivered messages to either Sidney or Sloane. Any one of them could have been Rambaldi, which does not mean that any of them was. Perhaps they were followers of his teachings (the ones that distributed the artifacts, or maybe they were people who solved the mysteries before and were awarded the price of eternal (or very long) live.

Odd thought here, and I'm probably way off, but could Rambaldi have been a group and not a particular person? They could have all been Rambaldi (all the old vaguely mysterious men) who's lives were prolonged as a result of whatever the item is/was that they used that ended up being the thing Sloan ended up using. Justice for that guy. Now he gets to spend forever trapped and starving in a tomb with Jack Bristow. That and his delusion decided to leave him. Nice.

They told us two reasons, which together would seem to make a pretty good case for why the artifacts were important. They would increase your lifespan, or in Sloanes case, bring you back from the dead. Now, having all the power and influence of Prophet 5, which basically is in my opinion the new SD6, K Directorate, APO, The Man, OXFAM, insert new bad guy organization of the season, you could have immense power. Using the nukes/ballistic missiles, (I don't think they ever said nuclear), they'd reap the rewards of rebuilding.

Of course thinking about it, more questions come up, like how come Irina is dead? If she fell onto the bloody orb, why didn't it bring her back to life? Was it the bloody pool of water that did it for Sloane?

Did they ever say what happened to Will, the reporter who briefly showed up as a carpenter in a later season?

I am just happy that Sark got away. I agree with most people that this show really started to go down hill after season 2. I haven't watched since season 3 except I did catch the last few episodes for old times sake.

About Will they brought him back for one episode in which profit 5 kidnapped him to get to Sydney, if I remember correctly he is engaged or something along those lines I was not paying much attention. He is alive and and in witness protection.

I heard that part, but I didn't know what that had to do about Rambaldi, and why Irena needed the little orb. Why now? She could have wiped out Prophet 5 (we saw how easy that was) and used the missiles at any time and then profit from the rebuilding. What did any of that have to do with Rambaldi?

That's my guess.
